Its end of another year. Its properly a good time to size up what happen during the year and look ahead what will be our potential threats to stabilities new ones vs existing although not necessary military ones but politically could possible create a watchful scenario in both to the neighbouring states, and to the broader region
i will start off with home front.
Continue Terrorist threats ( the laterest killing of politician increase result of unstable pakistan) I was wondering if singapore foreign affair should be working with pakistan diplomatically to reduce export of jihadists? Although working with Indian helps SAF but we still do not fully engaging the problems.
Political stabilities for Thailand especially with itÂ’s newly runoff election. i believe general is still pulling the string from behind, not sure how it would interact with the newly form government? Any intervention would surely anger civilian, until someone mistakenly pull the trigger and someone took the image onto Youtube.
Malaysia increasingly Islamic grip on its citizen is still evolving but would not surprise if more protest from minority. A few more Ops manning perhaps.
Broader region. The Trouble Parallel ironically these countries stack up like a Cake. Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, wellÂ…. Myanmar slightly further.
Myanmar remained a sore eye would there be increase of rebel conflict now that the push for reform has fail. Rebels see that it has no future in the political process but to take up more aggressive arms. China has itself to blame as it unintentionally take up responsibilities of Myanmar as it protect its oil interest.
Pakistan lawlessness will continue for the coming year. I know allot of investment has already been pull out of Pakistan. i don't see any Islamic teaching will be able to pull itself out of the hole. Democracy does not create stabilities. Possible front for the war on terror?
Iraq possible scale down and Afghan possible increase troop level.
Iran an interesting dilemma for the newly elected US President. Its direction will certainly affect the rest of the world.
Any prediction for SAF venturing new height for next year?
