i am beginning to suspect who this ray is....his questions are strange.

Other trade routes sure but are u paying for the increase in transportation cost? Are u taking the responsibility of the reduce in profit?
Lets just assume u are M.
I will just send troops to johor and down to KL (by doing this i secure my food and water supply).
Send a fleet to intercept yr ships in MOS while requesting reinforcements from I.
Form an alliance with China, Vietnam, Japan Australia n Korea to form a pincer attack with yr fleet in the south china see.

Enemy Mission I - Naval Blockade of Singapore
====================
1. Mine the Straits of Malacca such that it will take years to fully minesweep the area
2. Close Sunda Strait to Singapore Traffic
3. Establish a Fleet in Being in at least 3 ports facing the South China Sea
4. Establish a Fleet in Being in at least 3 ports on the Java Sea
Care to counter that?
That's why Singapore cannot just maintain the troops in Singapore and defend the sea lanes, because if the sea lanes are threatened our trade will be affected. Enemy could play hit and run naval blockade, as long as there is a threat to ships, no ships will travel here.Originally posted by abao:Yup. Thats why my Enemy Mission 1 is a Naval Blockade. Reading this (ray243) comments in other threads suggests that s/he thinks a war is as simple as a game of RTS.

But the problem is this is a military NUTS forum...there is no reaseon we need to be sane right?
Although the forum is named Military Nuts, its still advisable to exercise some levels of sanity, otherwise, whichever thread is started can be closed by just 1 word: nukesOriginally posted by ray243:But the problem is this is a military NUTS forum...there is no reaseon we need to be sane right?

Thanks for the flak. Proves that I have much more to learn.Originally posted by storywolf:Dumb Dumb dumb !!!!
Mine the straits of malacca ? Hello singapore got 4 minesweepers also some new technology - they can easily clear the straits !!!
Establish a fleet ? with what - a fleet of sampans is it ?
Wikipedia:Yes, we have minesweepers with modern technology. But I dont believe 4 minesweepers can clear an entire Strait in days or weeks.
The cost of producing and laying a mine is usually anywhere from 0.5% to 10% of the cost to remove it, and it can take up to 200 times as long to clear a minefield as to lay it. Parts of some World War II minefields still exist, because they are too spread out and expensive to clear—and theoretically, some of these mines might stay active for hundreds of years.
Wikipedia:Keep old but battle worthy ships in the harbours. Of course not sampans lar. Something like 1 LST, 3 DD and 3 Missile Gunboats for per fleet in the region. Put it in port and allocate adeqate AA defense and Air Cover to prevent air strike.
In naval warfare, a fleet in being is a naval force that extends a controlling influence without ever leaving port. Were the fleet to leave port and face the enemy, it might lose in battle and no longer influence the enemy's actions, but by simply remaining safely in port the enemy is forced to continually deploy forces to guard against it. A fleet in being can be part of a sea denial doctrine but not one of sea control

Moreover, I believe that most critical electronics are already hardened against EMP so would have minimal to no effect on them. And lastly, there currently isn't a viable air-deliverable EMP device yet due to the size of the damn thing.
To attack Singapore, I'll go with the Biowarfare Anthrax, Ebola strains and/or Sarin attack. Delivery the pay load over Singapore Land using UAV.
Leads to panic within the citizens, low morale in army. And till one point that army personnel is required to assist in civilian, this is when they'll be low in defense.
Next I'll deploy E-bomb using EMP to disable all electronic equipment within the area of Singapore.
This will cause communication breakdown. Affects the aircrafts, radar, etc.
Concurrently, I'll sent Tomahawk Long Range Missiles to eliminate the Navy defenses, key command buildings and Infrastructures of Singapore.
Next I'll sent in a Squadron of Aircrafts to eliminate military planes on the ground.
Then I'll sent leaflets by planes, this is propaganda.. Affecting the morale of citizens and military servant.
Lastly, I'll open a channel for Singapore to admit defeat.
Wah! mayi, you also come here n post ah? LOL.Originally posted by ndmmxiaomayi:To effectively defeat Singapore, look further than her arm forces. While true that in a war you have to beat the arm forces, in Singapore's case, it may not be true at all.
Cutting off our supplies may work... but as Singaporeans are known for being kiasu... you won't know where we stockpile things somewhere else... a more effective way is find out where we stockpile those stuffs and remove it.
Lastly, break all communications. Singapore's Total Defence strategy works when communications aren't broken. Break that, you will break the people's confidence + arm forces way of communications to the citizens.
Oh... and to win... flatten any buildings you see with the Yellow Triangle that SCDF puts up. This one is a real gold for the enemies.
hope this is not another brain pick excerise? anyway are there any computer war game that use Asia as a theatre of operation that would make a good christmas gift?Originally posted by ray243:The whole point of this topic is...for the members to play 'generals' in a way.
One side would discuss any possible way for the enemy to attack singapore.
The other side will counter back with arguments on how to achieve victory or defend singapore.
Think like your enemy before making your move...
If people is interested...maybe someone can start a scenario and see how the 'debate war' goes.
A game of chess if you will.
Yup, the TD strategy looks nice on paper, but it's also the best one if it could be done in real life. It's pretty well-rounded. With a strong force and the cooperation of the people, the enemies will find Singapore hard to break.Originally posted by abao:Nice one...Breaking the Total Defence Strategy. I think that TD strategy only looks nice on paper though. Cant really see it work effectively during wartime.
But I dont think our communications can be broken so easily though, coz most of the cables and lines are all placedunderground. Destroying the above-ground centres is possible though.
Nah... I just come along and post everywhere if it's interesting...Originally posted by Shotgun:Wah! mayi, you also come here n post ah? LOL.
Yo champion you just stated a self defeating post.Originally posted by Miracles&Prophecies:Guys don't you realize that your indigenous water can't serve a 5 million people population that is you guys are dependant on water supply from abroad. If I were fighting against your country my fist targets would be any water pipe/installations and the power stations. Just need some plane to drop bombs onto those installations or use sabotaeurs.
No need to impose on a sea blockade. That would be for Britain. They are self sufficient in their water supply.
But I'm no Army General nor do I have extensive knowledge on your water and power installations. I hope you don't have a centralized power station.
Man where did they teach you manners?Originally posted by CM06:Yo champion you just stated a self defeating post.
Your last paragraph just made your 1st AND 2nd paragraphs a no brainer.
IOW you posted a post of nothing.
