Insults & Bribes. By far the most dramatic was the bizarre account of a bungled American CIA exploit in Singapore. Late in 1960, according to Lee, a U.S. agent had flown into Singapore and tried to bribe his way into the city's Special Branch intelligence net. He was taped and filmed in the act, tossed quietly into jail. Lee then offered to free the agent in return for US$33 million in U.S. economic aid for his nation. The U.S. refused, said Lee with superb aplomb, and instead "insulted" him with a counteroffer of US$3,300,000 for Lee personally and his People's Action Party.
With the Kennedy Administration about to take over, Lee decided to abide the insult long enough to test the new President's response. It was straightforward and unequivocal: no under-the-table money at all, economic assistance only on its merits—and only if it was clearly not a quid pro quo for the spy's release. Secretary of State Rusk sent Lee an apology, and Lee let the agent go without fanfare.

The female CIA agent instead fell into an ISD love trap........by a handsome man who was an undercover ISD agent.
The CIA female spy got sent back to US a psychological wreck......

No....KGB tried in 1978/79 to penetrate the Air Force.....they recruited an Air Force personel.......but he turned the tables on them by informing ISD of the penetration attempt. He was then told to allow himself to be recruited and become a double agent.
The KGB spy was then thrown out of Singapore after he kena played along .....

Knowing how difficult it was to penetrate Singapore, the resident KGB officer then informed KGB HQ that he had a spy ring formed when he had none..... he simply made false expense claims from KGB HQ. He was caught when KGB Auditor came to interview the "Singapore Spy ring" and found that the local KGB guy had conned HQ of plenty of $$$$$.

There was a joint counterintelligence op in the late 90s conducted here, where the FBI or CIA actually pursued either a KGB agent or some drug lord.
Vaguely remember a news article.. -
FBI doesn't operate outside the US. However, they do send "advisors." FBI typically trains and conduct counter-intelligence operations while CIA conducts intelligence operations. They usually "exercise" against each other.
Since CIA is the only group that operates outside the US, I won't be surprise if they borrowed some FBI advisors for a counter intelligence operation.
