The gun was also not maintanced properly as it jammed several times -
From what I know, our technology now far exceed the times of WWII, bombs can actually penetrate ground and be used to destroy underground structures. EG, "bunk buster".
I'm sure thats not the only bomb that can be used to penetrate the ground. -
