ST Kinetics Compact Personal Weapon (CPW) is a cost effective, lightweight and compact weapon with very low recoil. Combining the designs of hand held compact pistols and sophisticated sighting systems with a retractable butt-stock feature of a full sized submachine gun, the CPW is replacing the use of handguns, submachine guns and even rifles in all aspects of military and law enforcement operations that require compact firepower.http://www.stengg.com/CoyCapPro/detail.aspx?pdid=399
i saw singapore police officer carrying that....Originally posted by tankee1981:
I second that. and they also give the least possible information.Originally posted by Daniel-Lim:Don't you all just hate Singapore websites like STK and other SAF websites?
They put the tiniest, most low quality pictures possible.
You're right. The web page, with its tiny image and complete lack of technical information (caliber, mag capacity, physical dimensions, etc.) about the gun, is next to useless.Originally posted by Daniel-Lim:I saw that earlier.
I just want to voice something I don't know if any of you share?

Is this a government policy?
Is there any where we can write in to offer our opinions?
Errr .... what is a PPShm? I know of PPSh and PPS ... "m"?Originally posted by equlus84:I think this weapon is suitable for those non frontline combatants, like clerks, storeman, mechanics, maybe even the 2PDF. Just like how the Russian used their PPSHM during WW2
I'm not sure...Originally posted by equlus84:I think this weapon is suitable for those non frontline combatants, like clerks, storeman, mechanics, maybe even the 2PDF. Just like how the Russian used their PPSHM during WW2
there's nothing wrong with mag-in-grip layout. The famous Uzi is just such a weapon. it all depends on the individual weapon's overall design.Originally posted by equlus84:Another thing is weapons like this with magazines placed in the pistol grip, how stable are they in operations?
My problem with most SMG or PDW or CPW is that, they are almost as bulky as a carbine, though shorter. Nut they fire a short range round that is also less lethal. And even for clerks and cooks, if the HQ is attacked by enemy, I would prefer a carbine to such a small calibre weapon.Originally posted by equlus84:The ST webbe claims this weapon is gonna replace police/army armaments, huh?? why?
Looks like RoboCop's gun to me!Originally posted by caleb_chiang:
Hmm.... mini machine gun?
Very stable, I'd imagine. Having the weight of a loaded magazine in the pistol grip helps keep the weapon's center of mass closer to where the shooter is holding the weapon with his strong hand. Also, as the magazine gets lighter when the weapon is discharged, there is almost no shift in the center of mass.Originally posted by equlus84:Another thing is weapons like this with magazines placed in the pistol grip, how stable are they in operations?
Originally posted by Shotgun:Who said anything about issuing this to Clerks and Storemen?
In fact, Mindef has not even said anything about absorbing this weapon, so why bother criticising it?
SAF troops, will be equipped with Sar-21 or M-16s even at HQ. I've not seen any other weapons beside the occasional gimpy at my old HQ.
Does this answer your question?Originally posted by equlus84:I think this weapon is suitable for those non frontline combatants, like clerks, storeman, mechanics, maybe even the 2PDF. Just like how the Russian used their PPSHM during WW2
Can can. Please offer your opinions.Originally posted by chino65:Does this answer your question?
You are free to disagree with my opinion.
But why cannot offer opinion is it? Go and report police lah...
Maybe it is to prevent and minimise copying of design. The picture and the tiny details is meant to show that such a weapon system exist and works roughly in this special way.Originally posted by Daniel-Lim:I saw that earlier.

Is it 40mm grenades on the top?
True. But for the SAF, its a little different.Originally posted by Daniel-Lim:PDW were originally intended for non-combat troops like clerks and storemen. So equlus84 is actually correct.
You are barking up the wrong tree.Originally posted by Shotgun:True. But for the SAF, its a little different.
