Range during BMT....
This fella in my platoon got IA.
Instead of unloading and checking clear, he swung his weapon to the side and discharged three rounds into the side wall. Full auto.
Came pretty close to hitting his buddy and the safety spec.
How he never got charged will always be a mystery to me. -

If i am not wrong it is a cadet from OCS. Didn't clear his weapon, accidently shot is fellow cadet while cleaning rifle or something. Its out in the news.Originally posted by wonderamazement:Which unit? -

Whatever the case, if you have IA, the first thing to do is to unload, check clear your weapon, and to visually make sure that there is no round in the chamber.
And most importantly.... when your weapon is loaded, it should only be facing the front. Nowhere else. -

During my BMT days, I had a platoon mate who was a straight A-level nerd...he even brought a thick 1,000 page book outfield to study law, so that he can get an advantage (or so he thought) before he goes to Uni.
He was hoping to be an officer and even offered to sign on...but he was a weakling, can barely pass IPPT...because he is such a nerd and so weak, he was rejected from signing on as an officer...

Well when i was in bmt few years back, we were doing live firing and one of my section mates rifle went off by itself while we were at the 50 m is it? the one after the run down but before the standing hip position. the round hit the ground near our 2IC feet. the 2IC jumped up and screamed 'wat the fuck'.I thought 'hong kan liao'. but after that nothing happened cos my section mate didnt even touch the trigger. everyone agar agar the chamber too hot so discharge the bullet. so no charges were levelled. never even kena fark the poor guy. live firing continued as normal after that.

when I just posted to unit after STTS as driver, there is one kuku... on his first detail his tyre went flat and told the captain dunno how to change... make the whole batch of new driver stand by tyre...
then there is more about this kuku... he had been the talk of the own Sungei Gedong Camp at that period... -

its hard to imagine this manouvre being done with live rounds. and at night too. just imagine if there's a jilted lover out there and his nemesis is just two lanes away. LOL.
We were having Platoon Live Firing (Night)
We were line up 1 straight line (men ic men sc men ic men) then need to do fire movement down our own lane. You all know fire movement standard is IC move, men cover. Men move, IC cover fire.
This super sect comd, when his turn to move, stand up and run to the next bound of the men's lane beside him. Lucky the men saw and stop fire. If not i think the sect comd byebye liao.
His reason being..
"My glasses got fog" -
With all the safety aspects in a live firing drill even things could go wrong but in a real fire fight i quess everything should go wrong

How about my own story? Laugh at ourselves for a moment....
I was PS in my NSF. One nite in the Ulu Sembawang area... night movement to contact. Heard firing suddenly to front left , somewhere ahead of the platoon column.
I knew it was a contact by the forward section. PC was by chance some 50 metres behind me, moving up after conference with OC.
I thot I should react to the sound of fire and ran forward to the front to give support to the section commander. Hardly took 4 steps and suddenly I found myself in a XXXX@@@ pot hole ! Half my body was drenched in wet mud !
Looking back, I think it was rather funny. At that time I was embarrassed. Luckily the night disguised my embarassment.
The garang sergeant fell into a shit hole !!! -
You people do not know how blur i was in the army. As i grow up studying on my own most of the time, i never listen to my teachers and to any instructions.
Back when the instructors were teaching us how to strip rifle or anything, i would just drift away and never listen to a single thing. When asked to strip rifle, everyone in my section strip it very fast but i am left with how to even open up the first rifle lol. From then on, i learnt my lesson and start to listen to those sergeants. -
