Yes. These were the ones I'm referring to. When off-loaded, their free-board height is really jaw-dropping.Originally posted by Marco_Simone:If I am not wrong, only the supertankers are bigger than the Nimitz
And when underway they usually move in excess of 20kts.Originally posted by tek_koh:But merchants like Containers and Supertankers are really wide and huge!

Yeah......and they brought along their arrogance to SG too........read today's Sunday Times that an SG guy was beaten up pretty badly by one of them drunk American sailors/marines recently.Originally posted by SBS3625D:DDG-70 now at Changi. Arrived early yesterday to join LHA-1.
Yes, we yet to hear how the going to punish that US sailor by their Navy Police. We want some justice!Originally posted by FireAndHell:Yeah......and they brought along their arrogance to SG too........read today's Sunday Times that an SG guy was beaten up pretty badly by one of them drunk American sailors/marines recently.
And worse part is.......that assailant was "rescued" by the so-called US navy "police". Taken away by them from our SG police without being formally charged!
About time SG government insist that if the US military personnel break local laws, they should face the music here......not happily escorted back to the ships by US police!! Just look at what happened in the Philippines and Okinawa where the US military personnel took their liberty to rape the local women and gals!! Disgusting !!
there are existing protocol for these type of incident. i am sure it will continue to happen.Originally posted by tankee1981:Yes, we yet to hear how the going to punish that US sailor by their Navy Police. We want some justice!
We are the host nation to their carriers as we don't charge them fees for berthing so this is totally unacceptable to do such things with the host country!

Of course, it's all anecdotal and not officially acknowledged. There were cases of similar drunken behavior in overseas R&R, as far as I know.
Heard of a few in Taiwan, but that's as far as I will go.
there are several passenger cruises that are bigger than the nimitz class also.Originally posted by Marco_Simone:If I am not wrong, only the supertankers are bigger than the Nimitz
Confirmed:Originally posted by SBS3625D:209 is back to much fanfare.
And just received news that CG-73 is docking at Changi today as well.
That's not called double standards..even if we have had a small minority of guys who can't behave and messed up overseas, it doesn't mean the rest of Singapore can let other nations' military personnel mess around with us.Originally posted by LazerLordz:our boys train abroad, get into trouble, also come back in one piece..
