Um I don't think the bullet will be able to bounce off someone's head like thatOriginally posted by Ponders:7.62 from Ak47 won't kill if the person is shot in the head...
provided the bullet does not penetrate the outer skin of the head.

nice shot from the security guard.
Tell me, if you meet an "armed" robber and you are the security guard, will you turn trigger happy even if you are usually not? I'm sure if i'm the guard, I would have turned trigger happy too just to make sure me, myself and I is safe.Originally posted by snk86:he was shot, twice. shot one grazed his face, bad shoting? he is lucky i don't know.
shot 2 hit his shoulders and got lodge inside it. i would say thats one screwed up trigger happy guard man

errr.... I don't think pressure bandages will help with internal haemorrhaging within the skull. They might worsen the intracranial pressure.Originally posted by C-100:In Singapore, gunshot wounds are rare, not to mention in the head.
The survival rate will depend greatly on which part of the skull / head the bullet end up with.
Most prob this patient will be send to CT or MRI/MRA brain onces vitals are being stablize in the resus room.
If the bullet end up anywhere lodged in the skull (as it is very thick and vascular) at the most, there will be massive bleeding, but will be stopped with pressure bandage and sitches after the bullet is being removed.
If the bullet end up in any part of the brain, with no exit wound, then the Neuro surgeons may ask for further investigations, for the exact location of the bullets. Depending on the location of where the bullet is lodged, sometimes removal will cause more harm then good.
If bullet is being hit at the back of the head hitting C1/C2 or the thalamic, most prob will be death on the spot.

I don't want to start a new thread but here's a question:
There are armed "police" wearing a grey uniform at the airport. Who are they?
depends on the distance and bullet size.Originally posted by Meilin86:I asking myself this question. It may sound awkward.
Anyone know how it feel like or how the person shut down the conscience in the body receiving a headshot from AK47? I still cannot figure out. Is it just black out? I heard from my friend that the brain will drop out. I thought it is only just a hole. And the person can stay alive drinking alcohol, heated knife to take out the bullet , burn the powder and tape the wound.
Guys who enter NS before may know the answer.
I guess i was shocked I saw a person been shot in the head but yet able to talk in a movie. Not sure the title.
Any cure for headshot by miracle surgeon? It is so sad to see people die in Counterstrike.
Hey, whack the frontal lobe and they'll be the life of the party.Originally posted by fymk:People can still survive with half a brain.
Dunno about the M4. The length of the barrel creates reduced muzzle velocity, which in turn reduces yawing and fragmentation of the bullet as it passes through the body (which is what causes the huge exit wound). Fired over 100 metres from the target, the bullet lacks the velocity for fragementation, and M855 rounds don't help things either.Originally posted by FBI:depends on the distance and bullet size.
headshot from rifles such as AK and M4a1 most likely u won't survive. Head shot from pistol if u are lucky u will survive, provided that it's not a close distance shot
I remember I watched one episode on Discovery Channel about a poor girl whose right brain was totally removed..She was skiing when she had a fall and ruptured one of the blood vessels in her neck..she didn't know it..all she had was very serious headaches every now and then..and it can be so serious until she becomes half paralysed..Originally posted by fymk:errr.... Usually the neurosurgeons will remove the affected part of the skull to facilitate surgery to evacuate the bleeding (craniotomy) as well as the bone fragments.
During surgery, they usually insert a device (but that depends on how bad the wound is and the main qualifiers are very low levels of consciousness aka score 8 or less a/c to the Glasgow Coma Scale) to monitor the intracranial pressure of the patient after surgery . It is a little thing that sticks out of the patient's head which is attached to a monitor to check for raised intracranial pressure.
If it is a direct hit to the brain stem, instantaneous death. If it is a hit which affects the side of the brain but missed the thalamus, brainstem - patient may survive. People can still survive with half a brain. Depending on the force of the entry and exit of the bullet.
