Indian Protest in Malaysia

Organised by Hindraf, About 50,000 protesters demonstrated under the shadows of Kuala LumpurÂ’s iconic Twin Towers after their efforts to petition the British High Commission was thwarted by the police with tear gas and chemical-laced water cannon. 400 protesters have been arrested.
The police have already begun firing tear gas and chemical-laced water to disperse crowds in three areas in KL - Jalan Ampang, KLCC and Batu Caves.
Malaysian Indian community upset with Police, accused of unprovoked attacks
At times, the crowd would run helter-skelter at each 'water canon charge', only to defiantly claim back their original positions, chanting "We want justice!" in both Tamil and English.
After six hours of confrontations in the streets of KL today, the police eventually allowed Hindraf to submit the petition but the offer was rejected.
The Malaysian Indians feels neglected and marginalised.
MIC president S Samy Vellu today appealed to the minority Indian Malaysians to work within the system instead of taking to the streets to highlight their grouses.

It is aimed at the Malaysian government. To directly hit at the MY govt would cause the kris to be drawn. Therefore they sue the British government for discrimination committed by the MY govt. That is the whole point of the protest.Originally posted by tankfanatic:dude check your fact...50 k? lol

seemed like this type of protest is not going to go away and what if it gets urgly ethnic indian start crossing the border.
