Could it be they closed one eye & let him in? Royalty you know. Wat are you gonna do? Send F-16s after the the prince?Originally posted by Atobe:Tell me you are only joking ?
Do you know how much jet fuel is burnt based on the high tempo of training flights conducted by the Singapore Air Force - which is reputed to have the highest flying hours clocked for training, compared to all the neighboring air force in this part of the world {not including China} ?
That is alot of tax payers money going up in smoke.
Still the Crown Prince of Johor was said to have sneaked into Singapore - at low levels - on his private helicopter and by-passed Singapore ATC, and landed at Singapore Polo Club; and the Air Force was still sitting on the tarmac.
Of course, this was before we had the 'eye in the sky' - and this event had probably pushed the necessity to get the AWACS.
The wheelchair bound ang mo incident happened quite recently as compared to the Malaysian royal (I don't think Malaysia have crown prince as they rotate the Sultans from the various states to be Agong or the Malaysian king). The Ang Mo case happened after the 9/11 attacks. So that explain the scrambling of Super Skyhawks and the V200.Originally posted by sgf:Could it be they closed one eye & let him in? Royalty you know. When that wheel chair bound ang moh flew his jet into S'pore, A4s were scrambed immediately & he was forced to land at Seletar. I was there are that time. Big hoo ha. They even had V200s on standby.
Respectfully, they are inaccurate. Check against the Appendix I mentioned next year. Cheers.Originally posted by specialOps:My numbers are right leh...hunters, strikemasters and UH...is like decades ago liao lar, i didn't mention at all....but the existing flying aircraft figures are right...
RMAF got 200+ aircraft, but mainly transports...their fighting aircraft strength is a small fraction.
Can't wait for your book! When is it being launched?Originally posted by ChineseJunk:Respectfully, they are inaccurate. Check against the Appendix I mentioned next year. Cheers.
The matter could have been settled quite well had it not been for the petulant behaviour of the Johor Crown Prince - known to be as bad as the father {who is known to have murdered 2 Johoreans during his prime} - who resisted arrest, and had insisted that the Singapore Police Commissioner be the arresting officer.Originally posted by tankee1981:The wheelchair bound ang mo incident happened quite recently as compared to the Malaysian royal (I don't think Malaysia have crown prince as they rotate the Sultans from the various states to be Agong or the Malaysian king). As for the Malaysian royal, if i didn't remember wrongly i think he is from royal family of state of Johore. Since Singapore government have very close ties with the Johore Sultan(as seen by the visits to his palace very Hari Raya by Singapore government ministers), they may have decided to keep this intrusion low profile and not start a diplomatic row with the Malaysian government in KL.
If he wants to be a macho 60+ Sultan, we can help him along, as much as it helps to have a good neighbor helping us in return.Originally posted by tankee1981:This is shocking! Is this still happening?
How can we allow a foreign Sultan to do as he please in our country? Even landing in an SAF camp with his Malaysian police escort o standby. This is outrageous! Unacceptable!
This was during my NSF in the 80's. Is it still happening I don't know.Originally posted by tankee1981:This is shocking! Is this still happening?

When their lease expired about 15 years ago {??}, they were given the option to move out or pay a higher lease rate based on the prevailing market price for such a big piece of real estate.Originally posted by chino65:This was during my NSF in the 80's. Is it still happening I don't know.
Letting them land in our camp and having their own armed escort is the price we pay for trying to be accommodating to these fools.
But this is nothing compared to the RMN base in Woodlands. I wonder if it is still there? They will soon be claiming both Pedra Blanca and Singapore as theirs cos their have maintained a naval base here.
Johor Air force (this is no joke) were different from RMAF...it is the Sultan of johor private airforce (or limo..one can say)...he also have an army ..the Askar Timbalan Setia Negeri Johor or with its english acronym Johor Military Force (JMF) .... The sultan mantain a batalion of this men...most of them were trained in India. Again these forces have nothing to do with MAF....and only answer to the Sultan of Johor. It is funded by the State of johor and ofcourse the sultan.Originally posted by chino65:RSAF was not scrambled becos the Sultan of Johore (the father) routinely flies into Singapore in his blue colour French helicopter. So RSAF recognises it well.
My camp used to be his favourite helipad.
We would clear the parade square of all vehicles to reveal the "H" helicopter landing point.
An escort of Malaysian police will usually be on hand to escort him wearing their own uniform and driving Johore-plated limo and Johore Police car and motorcycle entourage. His limo is a Bentley had this number plate" HRHSJ" - His Royal Highness Sultan of Johore.
He would fly to SG just for shopping or visit to the dentist or maybe his mistress. Fcuking waste of taxpayers money.
If we didn't scramble it is becos we recognise his damn helicopter and know what a bunch of axxholes these inbreds like to be.
If you recall the incident in which the Johor Sultan slapped the Coach of the Johor State hockey team, and the Coach took out a futile law suit against the Johor Sultan - Dr M moved to lift the immunity enjoyed by the Malaysian Royalties from criminal law, a Bill was enacted by the Malaysian Federal Parliament to disband the Johor Military Force and merged its personnel into the MAF.Originally posted by tankfanatic:Johor Air force (this is no joke) were different from RMAF...it is the Sultan of johor private airforce (or limo..one can say)...he also have an army ..the Askar Timbalan Setia Negeri Johor or with its english acronym Johor Military Force (JMF) .... this is another weird info...The JMF job is to defend the state of johor and its conqured land against any external or internal threat. Guess where singapore stand here...it is said in the event of any nation attacking singapore..the JMF will lend hand in our defence..LOL NO JOKE!

The very substantial private arsenal of the Johor Military Force was taken over by the MAF.
An Act to provide for the disbandment of the Johore Military Forces and the repeal of the Johore Military Forces Enactment 1915 and to provide for matters relating to the commissioning and enlistment into the armed forces of Malaysia, and the retirement, of certain members of the Johore Military Forces as well as for other matters connected therewith.well for your information it never happen....the JMF camp on top of the Timbalan Hill were moved to Gelang patah (i guess)...and the army and soldier still there...training ...even the camp were bigger than previous.
That petrol station may soon have to give way to the new Malaysian ICQ, as it will have to incorporate the new Railway station, with more rail lines being added.Originally posted by Darkbaron:Yeap jmf is still ard too..only now lower profile than before. apparently sultan of the johor is like the colonel in chief of GGK. so a lot of jmf personnel are ex GGK. Think hes commando crazy or something. Furthermore all camps or bases for the GGK are in mersing, johor, info can find from wiki. Furthermore side tracking a bit, the allowance that the johor royal family is getting from the federal govt in kl is peanuts compared to their own businesses etc. The caltex that we all usually fill up right before going back hm to singapore is owned by the johor crown prince, and thats not the only one he owns. They are like the royal family of britain, owning lots of land and businesses on top of their yearly allowance from the govt.
The list above is by no means the official list, but speculations from military analyst.Originally posted by equlus84:I'm quite confused by Malaysian short-listed candidates. Fisherman shocked to find army plane in his nets
By FARIK ZOLKEPLI
KOTA TINGGI: A fisherman made a shocking discovery when he fished out a 2m-long plane off the waters of Pasor Logok, here, on Tuesday.
The aircraft, which he towed to shore, turned out to be an unmanned aircraft used for target practice by the army.
When contacted, Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Osman Mohamed Sebot said the aircraft was reported lost in the area between Nov 17 and 23.
“It is a remote-controlled plane, not a spy plane. It belonged to the Kluang Army Camp,” he said, adding that the plane was in good condition.
Supt Osman said he was informed by the army that the plane was not shot down and it could have gone out of the remote controlÂ’s range and crashed.
“Army representatives will retrieve the plane today,” he said.
Cheap and most importantly less maintainence required...good news as sometimes contracts for equipment maintainence are forgotten.Originally posted by Shotgun:I'm guessing that they'll go for the Mi-17s.
