I remember being woken up by their singing early one morning. I was cursing and swearing at 35 trainees for being so loud den I realized... they don't sing so loud. I peer out the window and see those ugly green berets. LOL!
IMO, when the war goes bad, they will probably have plans to TRAIN them first. Think Hitler Jugend and how most of them wound up as "young" soldiers in the S.S.
In any case, if the war goes bad for us, we're gonna be doomed. NCC or no NCC won't make a fark of a difference. -

In those days, there was no proper armed forces...the Brits could not be depended on, that's why males of all ages rose to the occasion.
Today, it is different already.
We have a very capable armed forces, not just with mere words, but with actual capabilities, tested and proven. Its impossible we'll ever have to use kids to fight.
To reiterate:
1. they are not trained, its impossible to integrate them
2. its impossible for them to fight in a modern war, they will all die.
3. The SAF is more than capable to not only defend, but is more than able to be on the offensive.
4. The thread started doesn't know what he's talking about, and he's just trying to stir shit. -

dude scout back then were no where close to our boy scout...those days they were as profesional as a regular soldier...in fact in some cases better...because its their way of life

No really. Even if we got the NCC to come in to satisfy non-combat roles, it won't make a difference if the war really went THAT bad.
I won't mind having them take over field duties such setting up A-frames for HQs though. Or even carrying Jerry Cans, kiwi-ing my boots etc.

Some sort of a train the young to be loyal to country and stuff....
But you guys cant just look down like that i feel....Last time i know one of my 2nd sergeant in NCC Or my Instructor in NS already made it past OCS...And hes goddamm Fit....Some made it into commando....Some guards
So you cant really judge a person from where he is...Whether NCC or NS... -
Don't say so much. Yesterday I was on the MRT, wearing my uniform. siglap sec malay NCC boys making a helluva ruckus on the MRT in front of foreigners-I so embarrased I take out my ICT security pass and put it on (I was wearing my No. 4 without my badges)

Dude, just walk up to them, and tell them to behave themselves in uniform. Believe me, they'll shut up n guai guai listen one. Take a few names, and send an email to their school. I have not touched this hot topic in a while, but often I notice these kind of incidents happening all over the island, from all kinds of different schools.
I used to think it was the malays (I am not racist, so please forgive me for saying this; but the more I think of it, the more I realise the misbehaving ones are the malays?!) who were causing the trouble... until I saw that the chinese also do the same.. then the indians.
Then I looked at the schools. I thought maybe it is the SCHOOL CULTURE. Nada. seems like every school is the same. What can I say? -
