trust me, only US PATRIOTIC gunhuggers love the COLT m4.
Colt makes shit apart from the 1911 and peacemaker which is the only good guns to come out.
how come the germans can better the US at what they are "good" at?

Most of the time,if not every time,decision makers think of their own benefits,MY's face etc first before any operational requirement.

M4 can't be all that bad. US Army is buying M4s to replace M16s with full length barrels for front line troops in combat. Malaysian Army made a good choice with M4.
More important is that M4 is quite modular and using add on optics to the P rails make the M4 accurate to 600 m. Also users can achieve much very higher hit rates at the shorter urban or jungle distances.
HK416s are great but probably are also very expensive. Equipping an army with small arms is no cheap matter & the M4 suits the bill. There are no revolutionary small arms improvements at the moment. The great improvements are in the optics ( cost & performance ) which greatly improves hitting the target at all combat ranges.
