Definitely SAF is not adopting any new assault rifle calibre, it is not worth it at all to issue another 300,000+ re-chambered rifles.
By the way, it is the 8.6mm that Singapore used, and it is for the PGM mini-Hecate long range sniper rifle, that is slowly replacing the existing Steyrs.
No new 6.8mm
