Shotgun, no. Not practical or useful in jungle warfare.
However, police's Special Operations Command arm their Ghurkas with Shotgun when protecting special events.
Shotguns also used at Jurong Island's SAF Protection-of-Installation duty.
Basically shotguns' only plus point is the "stopping power", one shot sure down....so when encounter terrorists/bombers, one shot will disable them totally, while a bullet may still give them chance to move and detonate bombs. -

Fave vehicle - Bionix or m113. -

Most combat takes place at beyond 100m range, shooting each other with assault rifles...if you carry shotgun for infantry warfare, you shoot hit nothing, only attract enemy to fire at you.
For urban warfare, automatic fire is preferred, more accurate and less likely for civilian casualty.
Most armed forces do not have shotgunners....I think you play too much CS.

Study done on people shot at short ranges - under 50m. Those shot with shotgun had the least survival chance.
If I get the chance, I will want to master shotgun tactics. If I ever migrate to countries that permit firearms, I'll get the shotgun for home protection as a priority.
Low magazine capacity requires a different SOP. You just have to keep loading in rounds as you fire whenever you get the chance. A ammo belt is absolutely necessary. -

Use 40mm M203 grenade launchers
Ammunition use the high velocity type like the ones use to fire the AGL -

SOF uses shotgun. saw them shootin down door locks close range in urban area during training few years back. yes live shells and it is training.. private ambulance too.. cool shist
by the way M16 is still the best. beats SAR21 anytime. except in urban warfare.. GPMG is still my fav thou -

wrong....ask any aussies who serve in malaya/malaysian during confrontation and comunist emergency, shot gun were extremely efective. Jungle fire fight is a NQB much like urban warfare. -
I dunno how useful they were, but US used shotguns in Vietnam.
