Replace Super Puma with NH90

RSAF Super Puma is long in the tooth they should replace with NH 90 IMO, heard a lot of puma are not flying due to serviceability problem now

joker... i last year took SP... this year also too SP... where got alot of SP not available??
if really alot of SP not available.. i must be VVVVIP for them to make available SP for my unit to train anytime....

I more curious wad is RSAF next generation light lifting helo. The UH-1H have been retired from service for some time already but there is still no news for the replacements.

there are no replacements.
we have bought seahawks to be used with our frigates.
that's all.
the SP is going to be the backbone of the RSAF helicopter community for some time. -

What is so good about the NH90 that makes it more suitable than, say, the Blackhawk(assume we really need to replace the SPs)? It`s a utility helicopter that serves as a transport helicopter and has a secondary role as a gun-ship. This is not a fighter jet. It is not going against other helicopters or planes.
Do not waste money unnecessarily. If a cougar or blackhawk serves the roles just as well, then why not? There are systems where we would want to get the latest in hardware. And there are systems where meeting the requirements would be sufficient. At any rate, I am not convinced that the NH-90 is really better than a blackhawk with updated systems and avionics. anyone can elaborate more( whether this is right or wrong)? Thankies

built for naval operations is just difference in material and different radio systems.

spare parts easy to get or not?

fuel consumption how? etc etc
eventually the SG government will be like a chao ah beng and still zhng the car, regardless of what they get.

The airforce doesn't change aircraft types for the sake of catching up with the latest. Its only when they really need to....
The NH90 is no major improvement from Super Puma/Cougar we have, there's no need to change at all...waste money only. Capability wise, Super Puma and NH90 is quite similar in terms of performance and cacpacity.
And your serviceability problem is nonsense. It is extremely reliable and still carry 10+ troops and underslung their gear....they are very important tactical transports.
Downtime is extremely low. Your "heard" is rubbish. -

If there is no rubbish (not even fit to be rumours) then there is nothing to talk about in this forum in the first place. The he/she will not be able to start anything.....
SP are reliable and had serve the army for a good 2 decades. I personally don't see the need to replace a med lift with another med lift, unless there are really some issue with SP. SP will fit just nicely, complementing the heavy lifts of chinooks. -
Anyway, the SP has to go one of these days. Anyone has any idea when that will be? And what do you think the replacements will be? Id say the upgraded Blackhawk. Cheaper and battle proven.
