Indonesia protests to Malaysia over detention of diplomat's wife
KUALA LUMPUR (AP): Indonesia has protested to Malaysia over the detention of a diplomat's wife by security personnel who mistook her for an illegal immigrant, an official said Tuesday.
The Indonesian Embassy sent a protest note to Malaysia's Foreign Ministry after volunteer security force members detained Muslianah Nurdin, the wife of the embassy's culture attache, at a market district in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday, said embassy official Shanti Utami Retnaningsih.
Security corps members placed Nurdin with other illegal immigrants because they failed to recognize her diplomatic identity card, but she was released later after convincing them that she was with the embassy, Retnaningsih said.
They treated her like an illegal immigrant. ... It's unacceptable, Retnaningsih said. This incident shows disrespect to members of our embassy.

Malaysian authorities shoot at trespassing boat carrying Indonesian police

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia - Marine police fired at a suspicious boat in Malaysian waters that was later found to be carrying Indonesian police personnel, an official said
The authorities were patrolling waters off Malaysia's southern Johor state when they spotted the boat early Wednesday and ordered the crew to halt, said Johor Police Chief Hussin Ismail.
"There were shots fired" at the boat's engine because the crew sped away despite being warned, Hussin told The Associated Press.
When the marine police team approached the boat, they found it appeared to be an Indonesian police vessel, Hussin said.

Pregnant Indonesian worker raped brutally in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR (Antara): A two-month pregnant Indonesian woman worker was brutally raped by 12 Malaysians early this month, the Indonesian consulate in Johor Bahru, Malaysia said Sunday.
10 of the alleged rapists have been detained by the Malaysian Police, it added.
The victim, RS, 21, who originates from Lampung, Sumatra, initially worked as a maid in Klang, Selangor, but she ran away three months after working there. She later married to an Indonesian man worker, identified as MM, Antara reported.
On Sept. 7, 2007, they got an unexpected visit from two Malaysians who introduced themselves as policemen. The two told them to follow their instruction, and finally raped RS in a local hotel. After the rape, they called their buddies to follow suit.
"We condemn the rape. It is inhumane. Robbery, beating, and arrest by Malaysian citizens who claimed themselves from the police against Indonesian workers have happened so many times," Didik Tirmardjono of the Indonesian consulate in Johor Bahru said Sunday

If war is to happen between Indonesia and Malaysia, Singapore will be in a very unfavourable position. Firstly, we are currently holding the chair of ASEAN. Secondly, we are bound by the FPDA to defend Malaysia, we are situated geographically in between them and Lastly, we have less than rosy relationships with both of these countries!

FPDA doesnt mean much.
I highly doubt Singapore will directly be involved in the conflict at all.
Just take the invasion of Poland during WWII. They had a pact with Britain and France. Britain and France even went to the extent of declaring war. But no serious action was actually taken.
Would Singapore sacrifice their blood for the defense of land that does not belong to us? -
FPDA consist of 5 country minus 2 (us and m'sia themself) still got 3 more to help them. we where got resources to help m'sia. i think singapore government will just sit there and enjoy the show only.. provided they dun miscue and accidentally hit us la..

Such outburst from the Indonesian side is basically some nationalistic sabre rattling.... they will scream and cry for blood but end of the day, words and insults, not missile etc, will be traded with M'sia.
Remember, the Indonesia of today is feeling insecure and the only avenue for them to display is thru words and galvanising its people to burn M'sian political effigies and m'sian flag. Even though what the M'sian Authorities did to the diplomat's wife is deplorable and the crime committed is unpardonable, I seriously doubt Indonesia will fire the 1st shot across the bow of a M'sian ship and Malaysia is very aware that the TNI is in no shape to take on the MAF.
Even though SIN & M'sia are both in the FPDA group, it does not automatically mean that each party will come to the aid to each other. The FPDA is not that bidding as a military group like NATO and even NATo members doesn't automatically come to the aid of a fellow member when attacked. Take the 1982 Falklands War, surely Britain's NATO membership did not deter the Argentinians to invade the Islands. -
