How good is taiwan armed forces really?

Back in the early 90s, Taiwan's armed forces can at the least still compare with the SAF. But in recent times, as singapore get more and more equipments from the US and other more advanced country, Taiwan seem to be losing out.
Can they even hold the ground long enough for US involvement? After the Iraq War, I got a feeling that it is going to take the US a much longer time to react or to send troops.
Plus the enconomic ties with china is going to make it hard for the US to help.
So can Taiwan counter a invasion from PRC? -

got la do some search on internet u can find , they got project hundred aircraft dog fight at strait and thousand of ship /boat crossing , think PRC still poor in long range projection the report said

Why they need long range projection when Taiwan Strait is only 130 km wide??? They are thousands of reports in Internet but only a few are credible. Do more research and analyse before u come to conclusion. Long range, Taiwan is dubbed “too far away from the God, but too close to the mainland”. 100-200kms wide strait you consider only long range projection can cover? How about 1000 over ballistic missiles all with a range over 300kms? How about Chinese LACM as reported by Jane’s the DH-10 which with a range over 1500kms and CEP only 10ms? How about hundreds strong PLAAF & PLANAF’s JH-7 which can carry 4 short range Cruise missile( Ya, short range compared to TBM & LACMs) with a range over 120-220 kms? How about 100 Su30MKs? And H-6 bombers which can launch land attack missiles to hit targets further in the TW island without stepping out of PLA’s S-300 theater defense? The theme now is how long ROC army ALONG can hold the island before the YankeesÂ’ reinforcement arrive, the US then required at least 4 weeks or something, the Taiwan issue now is something more between China & US.

I will give a personal opnion. The question here is that the PLA is getting increasing more guided and accurate forms of First Strike Packages that can significantly hamper the defense networks and dug in troops of Taiwan who are in fixed pretargetted positions. Hits on civilians will become a big boo boo and blah blah humanrights blah blah blah.
However, you can never declare a victory in war until you land troops on the island and conquer them. While 130Km may -sound like a short distant- we are talking about sea transport in open oceans and not a rather calm waters like ours. To actually transport and land a thousand ships across a 130 Km strait is a HUGE problem. Landing troops is tough.
Dont even talk about landing supplies to support these troops. Dont forget, supplies and support includes comms and ammunition.
No one's going to land a Division HQ on a beach first. No one commanding where would the troops on the beach head go?
With no confirm supplies to support, how far in land would you bring your men in. Without UAV support do you even know what ambushes lies ahead?
The questions are hard to answer and you can expect China's Beidou satellites to be quickly taken out to reduce up to date visual information.
Without visuals how do you attempt to target your missiles on hardened taiwanese positions that arent known prior.
Airborn troopers face similar or actually even worst support compared to beached troops. Purely infantry in nature and taking into account of even a minimal lose of transport plane will cause a bn to be dropped spread over a large area.
Even special forces who dont need to eat sleep sh|+ also have to know where to go before they can do what they have to do.
So while taiwan may eventually lose, China is going to take alot of flak(political and military) in the meanwhile.
There are too many factors to talk about frankly. It's been discussed elsewhere before but in recent times the topic is no longer talked about.

Their mechanised div ratio is lower compare to sg but u must remember that PLA is too large.Mechanized all of them will be a logistic nightmare. From what I know,they are trying to form a few airborne battalion which will be fully automobile and highly specialised. Purpose? For quick reaction response project over certain distance! -
Open ocean? I thought it is a strait. Where got Ocean? While breaching can be quite predictable. Airborne troops will give element of surprise. 130km away prove much easy for helo and transport plane to land troops in critical area. The Taiwan's initial F16 A/B Blk15s are already MLU upgraded with avionics on par or even newer than F-16 Blk50s, RSAFÂ’s F16 with CFM tanks while the Taiwanese F16s donÂ’t have, which means Taiwanese F-16 MLUs have better T/W ratio and more agile. Honestly... i dun think ROC soldier's quality is there.
Their conscript full-time duration is short, and the training not as comprehensive and well-rounded...their skill level is at a very basic level, I doubt they can fight cohesively as a combined arms force, and individual skill level is not quite there also.
Infantry, AI and Armour, I dun think can really make it....
Airforce pilot training not quite there too...limited flying time, limited budget, maintenance level low, crashes often, pilot do stupid things and crash due to lack of experience, radar systems old, F-16A/B can't make it compare to PLA's.
Navy...a few really good frigate, but against the great China navy albeit with old technology, but with its many times more number of missiles, I dun think they can hold long. -

The taiwanese are good. At least I have seen how their artillery troops are being train and 'tekan'. Have you ever see a soldier carrying a 155mm dummy round and run round the parade square in Sinkieland b4?

And they do have SSM that can hit targets as far as shanghai.

Getting less and less equipment? It's because of PRC intervention.
Even in Singapore, with well-maintained and upgrade Super Skyhawks, M113, V200 etc, they can still run well, albeit with more sai kang work when it comes to maintenance. -
