not really... 25th division is "merged" with armor formation... like 9th division have been "merged" with infantry.Originally posted by Unknown_X:25 div is pure reservist fmn? frm wat i heard frm my previous ops wo, 21 div is supposedly a 'classified' unit. during last year's saf day, when i called up those 21 div personnel for attendance, their appt all 'classified appt'.
ic. didnt know abt the 25th division one. i was from 9 div. understood liao!Originally posted by tripwire:not really... 25th division is "merged" with armor formation... like 9th division have been "merged" with infantry.
So far, what we are discussing is no secret. If they were secrets, they would not have been in Tim Huxley's book.Originally posted by specialOps:keep silent on the things you know... about Divisions and units.
Certain units' names and numbers should not be discussed.
Well said, just leave it there as what we know.Originally posted by specialOps:Tim Huxley's book is based on certain assumptions and is not 100% accurate.
Because most of us here were or is in active service, it makes our words credible and it becomes a confirmation to certain things our potential adversaries might be trying to guess and figure out.
A little info here and there by a few NSmen, regular and NSF about formations and units...will form into a complete picture with their other sources.
As far as I know... SAF only has 5 Divisions, 3, 6, 9 DIV...21st Div and 25th Div being reserve units and simply a command element for reserve NSmen.
tim can write all he wants, but it is up to us to admit or deny his statements.Originally posted by sgf:I am simply quoting Tim Huxley. If it really was a secret, I'm sure the book wouldn't have been published at all. Whether anyone wants to believe his book or not is up to them.
That kind of open source intelligence is but a generalised methodology and is not of negligible impact as one might think.Originally posted by specialOps:yup...sometimes we talk too much become auto-confirmation.
Since we're in this topic, might as well say this....there're all kinds of people here on this forum, its a public forum.
We cannot talk like as if its only Singaporeans reading this, if not we'll be quite naive.
Truth is, intelligence gathering takes place 24/7 from all kinds of countries, and alot of these are conducted thru open sources such as newspapers, forums etc. nowadays...cause Singaporeans simply talk alot on forums.
i tot CGO was Comd 21st and CAO is Comd 25th?Originally posted by LazerLordz:When you study strategic studies and military affairs, you'd see much more publicly published articles, journals that might surprise you more.
And here we are dicking around what 21st or 25th mean. It is public knowledge that CGO is Comd 25th Div. And that's not even from Tim Huxley either.
Well so far all we've done is quote Tim. No one has said whether he's right or wrong. Anyway, spies would be pretty dumb to believe everything we say. Somehow I figure they'd have more common sense than that.Originally posted by saline:tim can write all he wants, but it is up to us to admit or deny his statements.
