Could you give a link or the title of the article?Originally posted by CM06:Ah thanks for the update. I always forget our arty has *slightly* longer range when it's ER/FBBB type of munition.
By the way, i read certain articles(the talk about accuracy of GLMRS) that Arty accuracy is about within 200m CEP for a 25Km range....is that true?
actually they no need to succeed... afterall.. they are just gonna copy the damn thing.... from another country.Originally posted by CM06:Okay that means if the laser beam riding arty shell from our neighbour is in 100% successful, that's going to really hurt.
The devil in the details is QC. The Indians have tried to copy the shell with varying degrees of success. In the end, they had to take in a stock of Russian shells.Originally posted by tripwire:actually they no need to succeed... afterall.. they are just gonna copy the damn thing.... from another country.
chances of failing to copy a system when given assistance from the original creator is hard to understand.
anyway.... the russian system has a 70% success rate.
and its actually possible to see the laser ... and given modern laser detectors and countermeasures... its shouldnt be hard pinpointing the enemy FO and fry the fella...
with the proper countermeasure... we can help them to miss 100%.
it takes courage to be a MAF soldier... you may never know... the shell might end up programmed to hit the laser designator instead of the designated target.Originally posted by Fingolfin_Noldor:The devil in the details is QC. It's not that. The shell itself failed to follow the laser.Originally posted by tripwire:it takes courage to be a MAF soldier... you may never know... the shell might end up programmed to hit the laser designator instead of the designated target.
I don't think we need to worry about that. Going by the US experience with the Copperhead warhead.Originally posted by CM06:Okay that means if the laser beam riding arty shell from our neighbour is in 100% successful, that's going to really hurt.
The US has had some success with guided shells in the recent Iraqi war.Originally posted by touchstone_2000:I don't think we need to worry about that. Going by the US experience with the Copperhead warhead.

The Government of Singapore has requested a possiblehttp://www.dsca.osd.mil/
sale of Major Defense Equipment (MDE)
18 M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS)
.... Launchers
32 XM31 Unitary High Explosive GMLRS Pods
30 M28A1 Multiple Launcher Rocket Systems (MLRS)
......Practice Rocket Pods
35 VRC-92E Single Channel Ground and Airborne Radios
... Systems (SINCGARS)
45 VRC-90E SINCGARS
35 VRC-990 Vehicular Radio Communications Sets
45 VRC-950 Vehicular Radio Communications Sets
9 M1084A1 Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles
.... (FMTV) 5-Ton Trucks
1 M1089A1 Wrecker
Also included are support equipment, communications equipment, spare and repair parts, test sets, batteries, laptop computers, publications and technical data, personnel training and equipment, systems integration support, support services of a Quality Assurance Team and a Technical Assistance Fielding Team, United States (U.S.) Government and contractor engineering and logistics personnel services, and other related elements of logistics support.
The estimated cost is $330 million. This proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a friendly country that has been, and continues to be, an important force for economic progress in Southeast Asia.
The HIMARS will enhance SingaporeÂ’s military capability by providing a highly effective indirect area fire artillery system that is critical to successful deterrence and national defense. HIMARS supplements traditional cannon artillery by delivering high volume firepower in a short time against time-sensitive targets.
At shorter ranges, HIMARS complements tube artillery with heavy barrages against assaulting forces, counter-fire and defense suppression. Singapore will have no difficulty absorbing and integrating this system into its armed forces. The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region.
The principal contractors will be: Lockheed Martin Missile and Fire Control at Dallas, Texas and Stewart & Stevenson at Sealy, Texas. There are no known offset agreements proposed in connection with this potential sale.
Hmm.........this guy sounds quite similar to the guy who occasionally post in Militarynuts.com. Whenever he post in there, his target is the SG gov and SAF. Would'nt be surprised if he is the same person. hmmm......Originally posted by domonkassyu:great..ew toys??wheres our enemies??dont we have abit much toys to show them off to investors??according to some rumors from somewhere,we are among the top 5 targets for islamist terrorists cuz we are too arrogant as we show off our toys too much...way to go our beloved govt..way to go..
hohohoho!!..........I see someone saying them grapes are pretty sour cos they can't have em......hahahahh!!!Originally posted by ferryman2393:I could understand the frustration by our southern neighbour, as their armed forces' asset need alway been more or less way above us in term of qty as well quality.
For example since 1969, when they got the AMX-13, whereas they have no significant potential enemy tank to shoot at for more than 10 years.
In the mid 80s, we got some 90mm Sibmas that they thought could counter their LT but the bulk of these were not even based in the peninsular.
Recently, they bought in a lots of quality equipment, as they THOUGHT perhaps this time we could catch up with them, but for example , 211 Adnan but they manufactured almost 500 BXI/II, another is the 48 PT-91M , but they buying more than double of second hand Leo 2, 2 Scorpion SSKs but they are getting 2 (second hand) AIP SSKs, 18 SU-30MKM and we are getting abt the same number of F-15SG (there is a slight possiblility that these will also be second hands) and now our so called "strategic" weapon Astros II is going to be outclassed by their HIMARS too. hmmmm... and i wonder whose knee reaction is a little overdone here.
Afterall their budget is more than half of our, plus their infamous timid populace, the status quo will remain as long as they are unable to get their acts together. heck... they kept up the defence budget even during the infamous financial crisis. on second heck...its their money, they can always give it to charity for all i care.
Which I believe it will not change in the forseeable future, as long as the siege mentality is in charge!!!
LOL .... a great way to start the morning with. loads of poo....
