It is like only yesterday when they had gone so low along the East coast that I can smell their diesel smoke and observed them doing little rolls to avoid the street lamps along the jetty.
Yes, I agreed their maneuvers easily outshine those fly-by-wire Yankees.

I still recall the first time I see acrobatic aerial show was back in 1982 at the SAF display show in West Coast. The acrobatic team (many years later then i know is Black Knights) consists only of Hawker Hunters. Thats not true. They do perform together for very special occasions. I guess its because of the prohibition from performing at the same air show that makes occasions like those rare. The prohibition is in place due to recruitment interests. -
Thunderbird pilot were Heli transfer from PLA to East Coast park after their show for usual autograph session.
and @ ECP VIP site also video screen of their usual before take off ceremony, and after landing ceremony.

I was referring to a Red Arrow visit just one year earlier in 1986.
Thunderbirds made their maiden Singapore appearance in 1987 during their first Far East tour with their F16A. They returned in 1994 with F16C, and that was when entire ECP got jammed.
The '86 performance was not very well publicised and seemed only the airforce folks were aware when I saw majority RSAF personnel at the beach.
Both demo team performed along the same stretch of east cost with Bedok jetty as one of primary marker.
FYI, the Brits did their routine without any loud music blaring nor any noticable presence of ground crew at the site. That was pure flying at its Finest !

Oh, one more thing. the Red Arrow performed using blue/red smoke trail in 1986, under like the usual white puffs. Maybe that help enhance the show even more. What lasting impression. I supposed some forumers here were still in pre-puberty age back then.

Where they train arh? Cannot say lar....if you see them above your head, then they're there lor...if you don't see, means they're somewhere else. -

The F-15SG not delivered yet....after delivery, getting them through combat readiness will be priority.....they won't have time to waste practising acrobatics....
They been practising like everyday, I was at Kallang at 8am a few days ago, and they were already flying.....
F-5 without fuel tanks....will run outta fuel very quickly on afterburner. With fuel tanks, it can't make high-G turns....so they're not so suitable for a good show.
