India develops underwater missilehttp://www.earthtimes.org/articles/show/102550.html
New Delhi - India has developed a submarine version of the BrahMos supersonic missile in collaboration with Russia, India's Defence Minister AK Anthony said in parliament Wednesday. He said the missile was ready, but trials coud not be held because Indian Navy submarines - the German HDW series and the Russian Kilo class - do not not have the capability to launch such missiles.
India has requested Russia for the loan of submarines to carry out test trials of the underwater version of the BrahMos, PTI news agency reported quoting defence sources. India was also open to trials in Russian waters, the sources added.
Antony said the ship- and land-launched version of the BrahMos missile had been cleared for use by the Indian Navy and Army after a series of successful flight trials.
The BrahMos cruise missile, named after India's Brahmaputra river and Russia's Moskva, is being developed by the BrahMos Corporation, a joint venture between India's Defence Research and Development Organization and Russia's NPO Mashinostroeyenia.
India and Russia plan to manufacture 1,000 BrahMos missiles over the next 10 years and nearly 50 per cent are expected to be sold to other countries.
First even India don't have a sub that is capable of launching Brahmos.Originally posted by beavan:even if we have the capability, it's going to be real close considering the amount of time it takes to travel to singapore.
malaysia do not trust either side too...Originally posted by crusader91:It is not as if they have the funds and by buying weapons from russia and usa, there will surely be a logistic problem as my is neither trusted by either side.
