4 SIR, 6Div in Alaska?
Note the body armour with side panels. Hmm are we going somewhere? -

Theres an urban operations training facility there. They are probably there to learn some urban ops procedures from the yanks.

it was practically an actual town with actual people......with kids and all.....
the stryker unit there had to go to a 6 mth arab course before hand to learn customs and language....
they spoke perfect arab,........
they cried when the SG soldiers flew back to Singapore...citing that:
They might not noe when they might see them again
That they might be dead in the future
hope u guys understand the 2 points.....the soldiers there cherish life very much and they don't noe when is their time to go,....
their mentality was also...
why walk all the way and tire ureself....fitness wasnt really much followed by that unit.....my fren quoted a US officer saying....when somebody is shooting and trying to kill u....u would really run for ure life....
their method of clearing rooms is also far different from the SAF...just go in and go with the flow using speed and aggression...clearing room to room quickly without wasting time... -

In Iraq US field officer after leading the men in battle and when they do their review with their commander they sob like anything because their men got kill in the process.
alot of people only saw movies but these folks are going out to do the real thing.
The emotion are real the potential danger they face are real. and at the end of the day they are only humans. -
Makes you wonder if the "go with the flow" thing is actually causing them to take more casualties. Perhaps if the yanks were more systematic and have a proper exit strategy...

have 1 question regards to the picture? why did they use M16 to train and not the new issued rifle?

they dont follow SG style of entering a room...its more to rush in.....do proper drills the way they are trained and get out....like water arh...theres no stalling... -

Those SAF soldiers in Alaska are using I believe M-16A2 with round handguard, AFAIK, SAF do not use them , at least not widely. -
we dont but the americans whose armskote that we draw from does.

actually, singapore do have other training stints that were never published in the papers. In 2000, a single company from 1 guards actually participated in the US JRTC in texas with the US 25th infantry division (air assault force which is US's version of heliborne ops). The training involved sending our troops to hawaiis schofield barracks whr they were stationed to accustomed to their training doctrine and before eventually going over to texas for the actual exercise. Most of Sg troops used the US M16A2 with some being issued carbine and their MGs as they were not allowed to used our own weapon.

Actually i respect the americans alot for the way they train and fight. their JRTC is a divional ATEC and it was very realistic. Personally, any joint exercise with them on their grounds are a very good experience and an eye opener for sg troops.
