Cost of upkeep for a scout jeep is lower than a LSV. Imagine LSV, you have 40mm AGL/SPIKE/MILAN mounted in back and a GPMG upfront and takes three men. While scout jeep only mounts a GPMG. Also, the purpose of each is different. As the name suggests , LSV's role is that of a fast, hard-hitting vehicle unlike that of the Scout Jeep.Originally posted by equlus84:I wonder why the SAF's replacement for rover is not another british defender series rover. Anyway, since the LSV have been introduced into SAF, wads the point of keeping the Mercs G wagon scout jeep? Shouldn't they convert to LSV as the LSV is lighter, faster and can travel a longer distance per gallon.
You mean the one I saw inside STK? Not too sure coz I only saw the bare ( steel?) structure and the roof without the engine or side panel/door etc etc. But its bigger in size compare wif the LR.Originally posted by beavan:does it have a weapon mount?
No, I do not agree on this part. Yes, the LSV may have a weapon station mounting at the sit next to the driver, but one can always choose not to mount any weapon there. The siting capacity at the back is 2 for both LSV and jeep. In fact, LSV style vehicles are widely used by most armies as long range patrol or deep recon vehicles. The LSV with a larger base area and lower CG, together with bare minimum design, makes it an excellent cross country vehicle..........Originally posted by SpecOps87:Cost of upkeep for a scout jeep is lower than a LSV. If what he said is true then we should get rid of all the bus and trucks on our roads cos they are all WAY bigger than a Humvee.Originally posted by Nuad:last time my uncle told me singapore acquired a humvee for trials, and he and his sergant went joyriding in it around thier base. but said it was too big and wide for our roads, dunno if i can believe him though. supposedly someyears back.
they always say alot of things. by the time they change, i think i'll have ORDed!Originally posted by caleb_chiang:I tot during my army days, they say want to change the land rovers to dunno which korean brand jeep... so many years and still no change?
