I believe the last batch of refuges was still around in 1993, Yeah can you imagine 1993 they are still around. I recall someone approach me to look for volunteer to teach them English before they transit over to the US.Originally posted by LazerLordz:I feel we should have granted as many as we could refuge. Retired officer sues over downgrade
KUALA LUMPUR: A retired army captain has filed a suit against the offices of the prime ministersÂ’ of Malaysia, Singapore and Britain and their governments over the downgrading of the officer corps of the Malaysian Armed Forces in 1972.
Retired Kapt T.Z. Abidin, 54, claimed that a committee set up that year had misrepresented to the Cabinet that the officersÂ’ pay and allowances were of the same quantum as that of British Armed Forces expatriate officers then serving in large numbers in Malaysia.
He said that more than 400 Malaysian Armed Forces officer cadets and midshipmen, including himself, who served before Aug 1, 1972, were affected and had their pay and allowances cut by up to 30%.
He also named the offices of the Attorney-General and Defence Minister in the suit filed on Wednesday.
Abidin is seeking RM99mil in damages, costs, interest, formal apologies from all defendants and an order for the Malaysian Government to set up a Royal Commission of Inquiry to rectify the situation.
trivia question. do we know who holds the proprietary rights to the two colors?Originally posted by idwar:One day I chanced upon a malaysian army arty camp. Looking at the arty sign outside the camp, I realised their colours were exactly the same as Singapore's arty units.............
We were one.......hopefully we can be one once again.
Never again.Originally posted by ferryman2393:trivia question. do we know who holds the proprietary rights to the two colors?
SG-MY to be one again? why not...
Why not? Why would Singapore want to take not just one step, but several steps backwards? So that the over-reliant bumis can have more non-bumis paying to support them?Originally posted by ferryman2393:SG-MY to be one again? why not...
With Singapore males taking brides from Malaysians, Thais, Vietnamese, Indonesians, Filippinos, Myanmese - {so far not heard of Laotians and Cambodians brides}, as well as the Singaporean females also being taken as brides to some ASEAN males, it will not be a surprise that this idea is pushed by the extended family ties.Originally posted by LazerLordz:Singapore will push for regionalism and may eventually lead that regional grouping, but we will never entertain a bilateral merger.
Actually, I like the idea of Singapore controlling the natural resources in MY. It will be an added boost.Originally posted by Obersturmfuhrer:Why not? Mmmm....don't think the Malaysians are that stupid to let us control their natural resources after our merger... either are we stupid enough to help them manage their resources while they reap most of the benefits...Originally posted by iveco:Actually, I like the idea of Singapore controlling the natural resources in MY.
