The armed forces of Singapore and Malaysia came from the same roots :
SSVF - the Sttraits Settlement Volunteer Force
pre-WW2:
Volunteers were organised into 4 Battalions:-
Singapore - 1st and 2nd Battalion S.S.V.F [1250 men]
Penang & Province Wellesley - 3rd Battalion S.S.V.F. [916 men]
Malacca, Labuan and Christmas Island - 4th Battalion S.S.V.F.[675 men]
Why do we ignore this shared roots?
The photo showed all races volunteered......even those from Christmas Island.....we were one....
perhaps it's time to re-kindle lost relationships, especially Chrismas Island......hehehe

I have watched a documentary which showed that on Christmas islands there are early low level HDB flats built there by Singapore. -

We should negociate with Australia to permit us to use Christmas island for our Navy and Air Force.
In this way, Christmas islanders can benefit through our spending.....we can help defend Australia.....we are experts at pushing Refugees back to the sea!!!
This is something most SAF soldiers had done with the Vietnamese Refugees.......give them food, water, fuel and point the way to the open sea.....you die your business.......by order of the SAF......

Some made it to St John's Island....... (1975)
others were housed at Hawkings Road camp.......(1979)
Don't know how many died at the hands of the RSN and SAF........"You no come Singapore OK? you go Australia that way....I give you water OK...good luck"
where are those who implemented this heartless policy?

Anyone with blood on their hands better confess now.......
SAF Boat Company, RSN, Marine Police.........
Some boats actually had fleeing armed soldiers on board, which were disarmed by our commandos- these were not real refugees but combatants and economic migrants.......
A lucky family which managed to sail to Thailand......others were attacked by pirates and killed, or drown when the boats capsized.....many were turned away by our great SAF guarding our sea borders.......heaven knows what happened to these...... -

If Singapore gets a base on Christmas Island, Indonesia would have been strategically surrounded by Singapore.
In the event of hostilities, Indonesia would now have to watch their southern flank.
There will also be implications in the Law of the Sea as Singapore may now have extended territorial waters ! -

If i remember correctly somewhere, the SSVF was formed from units of the Singapore Volunteer Corps, Penang Volunteer Corps, Malacca Volunteer Corps and some other smaller units or so ...
If so, how can SSVF be a 'root' , where it was probably just a realignment of 3 corps or so? Moreover, even as SSVF, there were still separate Singapore Bns, Malacca Bn and etc, it just seems that the term SSVF was more of a holding name, than to a unified Volunteer Force ...
