The Free Puapuan rebels captured some hostages and fled into the jungle.....SAF provided the unmanned aerial vehicle to track the rebels......the mission was successful.....and the Indons now want their own UAVs......
Should not have helped the indons......they tend to bite the hand that feeds them........but our politicians never learn.....
Details below :
Mapnduma Hostage Rescue 8 January 1996. The mastermind for this case was the OPM (Papua Liberation Organization or Organisasi Papua Merdeka), led by Kelly Kwalik. He took a number of Western and Indonesian researchers in the Lorentz National Park hostage. The OPM demanded that the Indonesian government give independence to West Papua. At that time the Kopassus commander was BG Prabowo, son-in-law of President Suharto.
The mission involved 100 soldiers from Kopassus and 400 soldiers from the Navy, Kostrad, Kodam VIII Trikora, and Penerbad. The mission was a success. Two hostages, were killed by OPM guerillas. There were no casualties among other hostages and Kopassus and others army members. During this mission Prabowo also received help from Singapore, which lent its UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) Mazlat Scout and Night Vision Goggles. -
Prabowo (Suharto's son-in-law) is widely believed to be the black hand behind the 1998 riots and the subsequent unrest about the time Suharto was deposed. If you can recall, Indonesian Chinese were targeted by well-organised mobs. There was also the spate of mysterious ninja-style killings of religious leaders.

I saw a picture of TNI soldier using SAR 21 had not known that SG has already sold these rifle outside of Sg when not all our units are using SAR 21.

There are arms dealers in the States selling the SAR-21. It's a commercially exported weapon. Some US State PD SWAT teams use it.
Trying to convince an American friend to buy the SAR-21 just for kicks.

Would these dealers need approval from SG to sell to a certain country? So i don't think they need to seek approval from Singapore. but they seek from VT kinetics instead. -
