In Brunei there was famous cases where the locals stole a rifles and radio sets from right under the noses of our sleeping soldiers!
In all cases, no action was taken to stop them!

In one case, an M203 got lost, the M203 is a 40mm grenade launcher that can launch High Explosive Dual Purpose grenades out to 400 meters! Is that something minor?
And losing signals sets is even worse, the enemy can get your encryption keys and spy on you. Such a compromise in intelligence is far more damaging, and will endanger more lives then 7 or 9 rocket launchers.
Have you even served NS before? It is drilled in from day one that losing your weapon and sensitive equipment is not an UNAVOIDABLE thing and you must protect them TO THE PAIN OF DEATH. In fact it is so serious that before you get your weapon for the first time, you must take an oath.
Seriously, if you think it's unavoidable, especially in peacetime and training... then it's plainly obvious you are drawing out a standard that is not seen in any professional military.But how about

the smuggle m-16 story i think i hear before. years ago, which tat guy strip the rifle and smuggle out parts by parts. i do not have the news to support but i remember there is such news..

Are you talkin bout the Matador incident? Please note that it was an expended piece that the disposable company contracted by SAF in Aussie, didn't take proper disposal measures. Its only 2 rifles deh, malaysia almost lost an entire armskote.
I remember got one time when I still nsf, rsm lost his rifle outfield during a ftx. THen when I was on course, at least 2 rifles got crushed by a traversing turret. -

The crushing of rifles is quite frequent due to the rifles not being secured properly. -
