Like I said, you can't specialise in military studies here.Originally posted by acwire_2125:Any idea if this courses are available in Singapore?
Think they only allow those SAF scholars to take them.

He's taught countless generations of ADF officers, basic elements of classical and modern war philosophy and military doctrine.

Not anymore, senior, our class is a rather large corhort this year, so much so that our core paper class (S6016) has to be divided into 2 classes.Originally posted by LazerLordz:I did a few modules on warfare and security studies, I can say that the numbers of people taking them are very small.
However, if you must major in Strategic Studies(which unfortunately is only found abroad), take a Middle East specialisation and do not limit yourself to just military studies. International Relations and Foreign Policy are important areas to delve into as well.
You're in RSIS?Originally posted by wisefool83:Not anymore, senior, our class is a rather large corhort this year, so much so that our core paper class (S6016) has to be divided into 2 classes.

Nope, my bachelor degree doesn't offer honours. And since I got into RSIS, I suppose it's not a requirement.Originally posted by LazerLordz:I heard that Honours is not a compulsory requirement for enrolment?
Other than DSTA, I can't really think of anywhere else.Originally posted by acwire_2125:I would like to ask, say after u get such a degree in defence, what type of jobs can u apply for?
SAF, DSTA, MinDef, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.Originally posted by acwire_2125:I would like to ask, say after u get such a degree in defence, what type of jobs can u apply for?
ISEAS too.Originally posted by wisefool83:SAF, DSTA, MinDef, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Research works in Think Tanks such as RSIS, East Asia Institute, Institute of International Affairs or something in Singapore or other think tanks in the world.
With Intra-national org such as UN (need experience first though) or Independent study org such as International Crisis.
Journalism with both local and overseas media and magazines such as Janes, ADJ and such.
Go Academic and teach in Uni.
Yup, guess so. So what are you doing now that you've grad from RSIS?Originally posted by LazerLordz:ISEAS too.
Your path is most likely to be academic.
However, hedge funds are another path. They require political risk analysts as well. But be prepared to look beyond Singapore.
I think the ultimate dream of many of these grads is to work for a top think-tank or policy insitute like Council for Foreign Relations or Chatham House.
