  what is the wind detector for? adjust aim?

  Yes naturally. Its what the rifle crosshairs are for actually. A wind detector will help to make the computerised aiming/calculations more accurate in an "assisted" shot. Like all detectors though. the Further away the target the more estimation a computer has to adjust that while may not be accurate is still better than plain eyesight.
