I am saying if really there is a [b]war among malaysia, singapore and indonesia, I think the chance Malaysia gang with Indonesia to fight Singapore is much much higher. U need to have a very strong reason or able to surpass their internal conflicts by force to start a war. By judging from Indonesia political situation, the chance for Indonesia to attack Singapore is much much higher than Malaysia.
And to elaborate further, Singapore is doing well among south east asia. If Singapore is arrogant, the people of Indonesia will not even mind invading Signapore. To them, Singapore is just a red dot.
While Malaysia is an islamic country, if Indonesia do declare war on Malaysia, their people will mind...
So whether there is a war among malaysia, singapore and indonesia, the chance is very very small. Because, Singapore is worthless to be invaded in the eyes of a strategist. [/b]

and the most common reason for war has been over competition for natural resources... -

i believe political and military top brass when they look at the geopolitical region they realized that it is not Sin, My, Indo that they are concern, if you realized none of us alone can take any country single hand without being political sucide unless they combine arms. So long as we do not joint arm forces we remained status quo.
There might be social unrest, people on the ground might be beating war drum but i believe military top brass and politician in SE are more wary of the newly giant future behavior as it dealt with the demand for resources and both MY and Indo are more concern with that aspect. -

A smart strategist can only start war when they have their support of their people. It is easier to convince their people to attack countries that have different in culture, religion and race than to convince their people to attack countries that are the same in culture, religion and race.
And furthermore pro islam political leaders does affect alot in Indonesia government.

Actually...what I fear is not the media publishing half-truths or untruths...its when some idiot with power like Osama, but now is a General or Minister with his/her/its merry band of supporters suddenly decides to call a Jihad. A bazillion others will follow suit in the same direction. And we have war...war at a level which we will be spread thin, to secure and deter, while others slog it out. The men activated results in economic breakdown, civil problems and when we are weak, some bugger comes in and bangs us.
And with both M'sia and Indonesia being pre-dominantly Muslim countries...I seriously hope that PMP produces enough ammo of 5.56mm and 7.62mm man. -
actually my take is, Singapore won't take either side bcos it will be fatal. Neither side has the might to wipe out each other. Indonesia will be able to defend but not conquer. Where can the war beak out? The potential hotspots are in Kalimantan area where there is oil - and thats so ulu. So there might be some scuffles but not full scale war.
malaysia don't have the resources to invade and who wants Kalimantan - its all rainforest and hilly terrain. And Indonesia has neither the reosources to invade Sabah and Sarawak - their army is not that well equipped.
so, if a scuffle broke out in Kalimantan, Singapore can remain neutral and go to Asean and ask for peaceful settlement. And I don't think Jakarta will go whack KL, firstly, they are all muslims, and there is no such disparity between Sini and shites as in middle east. Moreover, Indonesia has more oil than Malaysia, so why go whack Malaysia? Its not as if Malaysia is doing so well. Moreover, geographically Malaysia is not the border neighbour of Indonesia (except Kalimantan). The akward neighbour is Singapore.
Hence whoever fight will probably threaten Singapore to let them use us as staging area or use our base else we get invaded. Ditto for Malaysia - but Singapore is not stupid either, once we have sensed this happening, you can bet there will be open mob and US will have park an aircraft carrier in Changi liao. -

Indo is huge but it is thin. its fragment. I do not believe it can withstand a political fallout as u can see we are all worry that its has so many ethnic group that is going independent. it faces Aus from the south, it face MY who is going to grad the resources. Phil disputed island.
the bottom line is - "Side" no one if you need to side than stick with MY, commonweath states there are benefit that comes with the membership.

i think indo cant rant all it can about attacking M. They will only end up 17thousand new indonesia.
Full fledge war with a commonwealth country which is still closely friend of the united kindom..who is active members of the UN ..... which its army were better equip and wel fed... which still have defensive agreement to deter the very thing that the indo want to do...is very unlikely.
