As for the Malaysians, they were told that they ought to be shot.
'Once in a while, we need to shoot them,' Mr Soeripto, a member of Indonesia's parliamentary commission for defence and foreign affairs, said at a hearing with Defence Minister Juwono Sudarsono and the country's military chiefs at the House of Representatives on March 5.
The meeting was called to discuss the latest flare-up in the border spat with Malaysia over the disputed oil-rich region which the Indonesians call Ambalat, in the sea off Borneo.
It started after Indonesia claimed that a number of Malaysian warships and military planes had entered Indonesian territory around the region several times over two days last month.
Mr Soeripto was not the only one baying for blood.
Fellow legislator Permadi was quoted as saying: 'Don't be afraid if something escalates from the shooting. We have four million volunteers who are prepared to die.'

Are you familiar with the term "revanchism"? Can you imagine if war were to break out between the Malaysians and Indonesians and we happen to stick our finger into the pie and the Indonesians were to lose? I can seriously imagine a future revanchist Indonesian government screaming for the blood of the Singaporeans who "stabbed us in the back". Sorry, a genocide of my countrymen is not something I'm looking forward to.

Absolutely,or we will be supporting a nation with extemists who are potential terrorists.Anyway,singapore is part of the five power defence pact,so it is natural that we have to help malaysia even if she sucks.Both of them suck anyway but we need the compare the degree of who is more of a threat to singapore.

There will always be "shouting matches" but no war. Both cannot afford a war as they will end up as bankrupt countries. Both sides do not want to see their rupiahs and ringgits become cheaper than Japanese Banana notes
S'pore is too smart by not getting involved - not taking sides with any country is job of the foregin affairs ministry. This is the best time to know how not to be a "kay-poh" or a busy-body. -

by the time the aussie can muster sufficient military manpower for war against indonesia... i think the war long long long long over....
a singapore indonesia alliance also have the benefit of ending the war swiftly... a left right combine assault by SAF and TNI on east and west malaysia would swiftly crush MAF...
a combine MAF and SAF war against TNI could drag for years with no victory ever...
a long war is something which i believe all singaporeans believe we singapore cannot sustain given the nature of our country.

muslim countries do not neccessarily help one another... even in middle east.. muslims are killing muslims... in fact alot lot lot lot more muslims died in muslim hand then those killed in all the war against isreal.

I am saying if really there is a war among malaysia, singapore and indonesia, I think the chance Malaysia gang with Indonesia to fight Singapore is much much higher. U need to have a very strong reason or able to surpass their internal conflicts by force to start a war. And to elaborate further, Singapore is doing well among south east asia. If Singapore is arrogant, the people of Indonesia will not even mind invading Signapore. To them, Singapore is just a red dot.
While Malaysia is an islamic country, if Indonesia do declare war on Malaysia, their people will mind...
So whether there is a war among malaysia, singapore and indonesia, the chance is very very small. Because, Singapore is worthless to be invaded in the eyes of a strategist. -

and probably shelling of malaysia's west coast by TNI from sumatra... and maybe sabouteurs and special forces that could slip into peninsula malaysia across the long coast line of melaka.
water is not an issue... and i doubt malaysia would be that stupid to threaten us to help them by threatening our water supply...
