In times of war..unless the killing is done against the geneva conventions...it's not considered murder...u know of many? how many have you seen doing exactly what u have claimed? sometimes it's easier to say..killing another fellow human being might be easy in theory..but it's definetly not that easy to executeOriginally posted by ^Delta^:So be it if you feel its all wayang.
It would be wise not to discredit the SAF like that.
I do know people in the army who would not bat an eyelid to ruthlessly murder any invader who trespasses our land. Many Singaporeans I know can be frighteningly merciless when it comes to defending their property, family and way of life.

Besides civilian transporters, the SAF definitely have its own organic capability to move MLC 60 vehicles around. Besides the Tempest, we have had the CET and the AVLB around for a long time. We can move them around in Singapore and in the possible areas of operations. Our field engineers are all trained to build class 60 bridges, our amphibious engineers have the capabilities to transport class 60 vehicles across water for many years.Originally posted by gary1910:We do have civilian transporter that capable of hauling MLC 60 vehicle, that I know for sure, not sure whether SAF has such vehicle as well.

the introduction of MBT requires significant changes to our military doctrines, and required support to enhance its capability, mobility and survivability. No country would sits around with these problem unsolved, but I think in this case the SAF solved the problem before we brought in the vehicles.
cos we aren't japaneseOriginally posted by tankfanatic:the japanes can get their hands on the leopard tech and build it by them selves...why didnt we did the same?
At US$6.6m per Type 90, I hope you're willing to foot the bill if we do the sameOriginally posted by tankfanatic:the japanes can get their hands on the leopard tech and build it by them selves...why didnt we did the same?

x2, it has been transported on our roads already, by civillian trailer. lets just say my unit accidentally ran into them while coming back from an exercise but they were covered in canvas as usual.Originally posted by LazerLordz:I get your gist.
What I meant is that the Leo has been transported on our roads already. Whether they have already procured an entire new HETS is another issue altogether.
It is becos it is cheaper than building a new one, Germany warstock 118 Leo 2 fire sales to Chile is estimated to be USD100m and that include training and ammo, so the actual per unit cost is less than USD1m!!!Originally posted by tankfanatic:the japanes can get their hands on the leopard tech and build it by them selves...why didnt we did the same?
Special Ops is right, it is not practical to use snorkel. Imagine one whole platoon of tanks sitting there in the middle of the night setting up snorkel which take 15mins to setup .... setting pasar malam is it ? the river bed may be mud, may get badly struck .Originally posted by specialOps:no lar..dun carry the snorkel at all times...else even kena one 5.56mm round also gone liao...sure leak...LOL
Anyway...civilian transporters can carry hundreds of tons...those concrete slabs and stuff...is in hundreds of tons....concrete bridge sections even...wads a 60-ton tank?
Anyway, in Ops...u think really need civilian transporter?? come on lar...drive on road liao...
Civilian transporter is cause its just too intimidating, loud and scary to drive these monsters on public roads...its dangerous.. one accident can crush and flatten a car.
