What's the SVT like?
That's the Soviet SLR of WW2, right? -
YEs! its the SVT-40! the rifle is defeintly a good riflefor its time ! the 7.62x54R is quite kicky .... and reliability in harsh condition may not be the best! recoil is manageble like any 54R rifle...
I would say it handles quite good ... other than the bad iron sights design it has! the mag design is very good !better than the M1 Garand .

I remember this rifle was very long. Just checked: over 1.22m. Would you say that this SVT is the grand daddy of the SKS? Except the SKS used the intermediate round.

the SIG556 is a nice rifle.... the fit and finish is very nice! but.... I had once using hte SIG550 and the fit and finish is even better.... the details of the SIG550 is just phenominal.... things like a take out pin is so well thought of and well engineered ! no wonder the SIG550 cost so much. Some of the parts of the SIG550 is also over engineered! like the flashider is machine on the barrel and not as an attachment !kind of an overkill IMHO. to disengage the take down pin! U have to depress a small pin and it in turns open up the lock and you can push the take down pin out.

No! it will not be my SIG 556 although it will be very close... I will take my PIston M4! Mainly I am more familiar with the M4 system! the way you charge you handle and all that!
AgaiN! maybe when I am use to the SIG I may change my mind! I still did not like the way you charge the weapon on the SIG556 ! its on the right and getting to it with your left hand is awkard!

No! the Hakim is more to the AG42 using the Jungman gas system which is the direct gas like our M16. That is also how EUgene Stoner got the direct gas design from. it does not use the short stroke piston like the SVT-40 Although they do look very similar in appearance.

Great review MG!... I sight in with both the M193 55 grain and 62 grain and my own load HOrnady 68 BTHP! the heavier bullet groups very tight! 1t 100 meter, the group of the 55 grain and 62grain have not much difference ! At 200 meter, the 62 and 68 grain still hold good but the 55 grain opens up !
