2 Singaporeans killed in fighter crash in Taiwan
TAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) -- Two Singaporean soldiers were killed in a Taiwanese fighter jet crash on Friday during a training flight, and two others from the city-state were injured, Taiwan's defense minister said.
Defense Minister Lee Jye said the Singaporeans were among a group of soldiers sent by the city-state to Taiwan for training.
The F5F jet crash also killed the two Taiwanese pilots at Hukou Air Base in northern Taiwan.

TAIPEI - Two Taiwanese fighter pilots and two Singaporean servicemen were killed Friday when a F-5F jet crashed into a military compound during an exercise, defence minister Lee Jye said Friday.
The warplane crashed 30 minutes after take-off from an air base in the southeast of the island during a simulation of a ground attack, according to the defense ministry.
The two Singaporean servicemen were killed and two others hurt when the jet crashed into the complex where they were staying while participating in a training programme, Lee told reporters.
The pair killed were not taking part in Friday's drill, Lee said, adding that the cause of the crash was under investigation.
All remaining F-5F fighters participating in the drill -- 60 or so -- were immediately grounded, but Lee said the live-fire "Han Kuang (Han Glory) 23" manoeuvres would go on as scheduled next week.

Two bodies found in military complex after Taiwan jet crash: MINDEF

Singapore's Ministry of Defence said two bodies have been found in a storeroom located within a Taiwanese military facility after a Taiwan Air Force F5F aircraft crashed into the complex.
The crash resulted in a fire at the storeroom.
Some Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) personnel, including Full-Time National Servicemen, were present in the storeroom at that time.
The servicemen were there in support of the SAF's unilateral training in Taiwan.
Two SAF servicemen are injured and are being treated in hospital.
Seven others have minor injuries.
Minister for Defence Mr Teo Chee Hean has expressed his deep concern for the affected servicemen and their families, and said that MINDEF and the SAF will do all they can to look after their well-being.
He has also been in touch with the Taiwanese authorities who assured us that they will do their best to provide the necessary assistance to our personnel.
MINDEF and the SAF will be conducting an investigation. - CNA/ch -

The Taiwanese article claims got 2 more soldiers injured. One with 50% of his body suffering from 2nd - 3rd degree burns. Surname is Zhou.
The other soldier, surname "Kathi" i think, suffers from burns over 40% of his body.
Pray for their speedy recovery.
I'm very concerned why the F-5 crashed into a building in the first place. According to the articles so far released, there has been no knowledge of any malfunctions. If the F-5 did not suffer from malfunctions, why did the aircraft crash from a simulated ground attack? What was the hard-deck for the exercise? F-5s are not exactly the best suited aircraft to be flying low.
Very unfortunate. I hope a thorough investigation will be carried out.. -
I disagree. The pilots did not eject either cos they didn't have the time to, were unable to, or they were fighting the re-cover the aircraft. I sincerely hope it was the last.
With all due respect to the pilot, it would be terrible if they had ejected and the aircraft crashed into the storage compound. A responsible pilot should ensure his aircraft wreckage will not cause the loss of human life before ejecting.
My point was simply, how low are the pilots allowed to fly in their simulated ground attack exercise? Is this hard deck sufficient, considering the aircraft to be fully ladened with fuel and training munitions? -
i think those two were the two reported with serious injuries earlier the day and i believe there should be another seven "starlight" personnels with light injuries.

Please if anyone has details of the two SAF servicemen killed, can you please contact me. I believe one of them is my good friend and I haven't heard anything from the authorities. I beg anyone with information of the names to please contact me. I would like to confirm that it is really my friend and not create any unnecessary misunderstandings.
