Israel supported us when we were kicked out of Malaysia.
Israel gave us their trainers, sold us cheap our first AMX-13 tanks in 1969, some stained with blood from the 1967 Six day war
We were so afraid our neighbours would find out, so the Jewish instructors had to endure our calling them "Mexican" instructors
During national day, our army band don't even have a stirring march......so they gave us the musical notes.....this march is still played during national day parades......
Above all, they gave us confidence when we thought we were unable to defend ourselves........today, no one would dare mess around with us, the poisonous shrimp....

Well said. We do owe them a huge debt of gratitude, not only for the training, but equipment others won't sell us, and sharing technology on various armaments/equipment, which continues to this day. Based on my readings, several big names in Israeli military/politics were involved in some way in setting up our military (especially S'pore's Army), including Gen. Itzak Rabin (Chief of Staff - not directly involved but issued orders to look for most suitable armaments and not to force us to purchase only Israeli-made ones) and Col. Rehavam Ze'evi (wrote up the doctrine and creation of Mindef and intelligence bodies). Both are now dead, Rabin assassinated by a rightwing Jew, Ze'evi was Israeli Tourism Minister, the first Israeli minister to be assiassinated (by the PFLP, a hardline palestinian militant group). -

In School of Signals at SAFTI Pasisr Laba (1971/2), there were two Isreali instructors, and they wore their own olive green uniform, and they were plainly openly Isrealis. -
