If Sing win, you will return and be the butt of jokes for the rest of your life.
Don't return back. For your own good.
If Sing lose the war,you will be just a refugee in an alien country.not really. sometimes it is essential to ship out certain group of people out of the country during war.... to help rebuild it.

Iraq eh..that's a political minefield.Originally posted by storm_freaky13:totally agree that we need combat experience. Not only the Officers NCOs should go as well.
Border patrol in SK is too much of a political risk. Although we aren't very comfy with NK, we are not really their enemies either.
Afghanistan, Iraq would be a better choice. obviously under UN.
waaa... i didnt know our enemy so power can block the the international SLOC... i wonder if the superpowers and other countries that relies on our SLOC have anything to say....Originally posted by justdoit77:Which arm forces has no weakness one? Of course SAF also has.
Most of the advanced weapons are imported from overseas, singapore is not able to build or repair them, so if war happen, when the route is being cut off, SAF capability will be greatly reduced.
Another thing is the weapons are from US. If one day US not happy with singapore, then it will stop supplying the parts and SAF F16, AWACS all these will not be in good condition anymore.
If confrontation happen, the confronting army don't need to attack singapore directly, they just block the straits then see how long singapore can sustain without the incoming vessels from all over the world.

great idea!! now you plant mines in malacca straits... remember to do the same for the eastern approach of singapore port from south china sea as well as indonesia lombak and sunda straits... i am sure a navy with the strength to take on the US navy surely have no problem stuffing some mines down the indonesians throat.Originally posted by tankfanatic:plant mines in Malacca Straits that area will be closed for a very long time...
The SAF of course has stockpiles of spare parts and its own qualified pool of technicians to maintain its weapons.Originally posted by justdoit77:Which arm forces has no weakness one? Of course SAF also has.

well... first of all... even the claim of mines being layed in malacca by them would get them straight away into hot soup with all the major global powers.. you dont even have to lay them... and those embassadors would be crashing into their PM office with a bulldozer.Originally posted by tankfanatic:they dont have to put real mines at all. i heard that by blowing air randomly at random location in a staits for examples will makes people believe that mines were planted.
1. there is no prove that mines were planted but the risk is too high so an investigation needed to be done.
2. The moment the news of minsweeper flotilla sweeping the straits, the commercial sealane will surely diverting their voyage way from the straits. In fact there is no need to wait for the minesweeper, all the enemy have to do is just leak it to the press.
3. Ofcourse sweeping hostile narrow straits werent easy, your ship were within range of many type of missile and artillery (South african have proven that their G5 can be use to attack ship)
4. Now you have to secure the entire lenght of the coast line so that the flotilla will be secure while sweeping the straits for the bogus mines.
5. By the time the navy realise that the mines were probably bogus, its probably too late because the time consumed to search for it and the diverting of forces to secure the coastline have bogg down the actual campaign (which is the objective of the enemy forces)
6. when this happen and the flotilla retreats, all the enemy need to do is blow a ship using a mine some where in the straits, so that the first impression that the mines were bogus, will be crushed and more units will be diverted to secure this part of the peninsular....and for surely the attrition warfare will start.
given that the sealane is closed..and not the entire lenght of the straits is secure, the straits will be closed for a very long time and marking an economic disaster for singapore.
Now it is not necessarily the north that did the fiasco... country like Thai who for all these years wanted the segenting kra canal to be opened and killing singapore port at the same times...or the indonesia who can revive its super ports potential.. from the closure of singapore ports.
but this is just hypothesis. lol
well... first of all... even the claim of mines being layed in malacca by them would get them straight away into hot soup with all the major global powers.. you dont even have to lay them... and those embassadors would be crashing into their PM office with a bulldozer.its about timing, how long does it need to bog down the lightning offensive?
secondly... without choking off the other ways of passage to singapore such as from the eastern and southern approach, mining the malacca is pure stupidity as it only renders their own major ports on their west coast inoperable.if read it clearly...i said they bluff ... so they can always admit it if the objective is completed.
thirdly... we dont have to secure the entire malacca straight... the US and other regional powers navy will do that for us... and i sure as hell will pay big bucks to see them hit or sink an american carrier with their G-5...like i said timing. Even the US wont commit its asset if there is not enough evidence that they commit it. Like i say before there were few other suspect other than them.
I think Afghanistan is an ideal choice, i think SAF can make use of the vast terrain.Originally posted by LazerLordz:Iraq eh..that's a political minefield.
I think a contingent under ISAF in Afghanistan is more neutral.
its one thing to have political will but sometime as you can see political will is not enough without people backing it.Originally posted by mancha:How come we did not think of the possibility of our mothers and fathers being a potential weakness?
Its the politicians of the US of A that lost the war in Vietnam.
In Vietnam, the US forces won almost every battle, but eventually lost the war.
Because they were weak on the political front.
i really catch no ball leh... what you trying to say har?Originally posted by tankfanatic:like i said timing. Even the US wont commit its asset if there is not enough evidence that they commit it. Like i say before there were few other suspect other than them.
