HEh MG! I thought students can buy firearms ! maybe they have change the law??Originally posted by Meia Gisborn:Non-resident aliens, such as foreign nationals temporarily in the US on work or study visas, are not allowed to purchase firearms.
Seung-Hui Cho was a South Korean national with permanent resident status in the US, i.e., he was a 'green card' holder. Both of his guns were purchased legally.Originally posted by Moonstriker:hmm.. if unable to get, then how did that korean dude who went on shooting spree get 2 pistols? walther n glock..
If i buy @ gun shows, do they do checks? >:/
I don't know if the law pertaining to the sale of firearms to non-resident aliens has changed recently. As they currently stand, such transactions are prohibited.Originally posted by davechng:HEh MG! I thought students can buy firearms ! maybe they have change the law??
I remeber that if you have hunting lisence and proof of residence for 3 months with some utilities bills ,than U can buy one!??

More like "sane at the time of permit approval".Originally posted by Meia Gisborn:In some states, holders of handgun carry permits are exempted from these checks when purchasing a firearm, the rationale being that the background checks had already been performed at the time of the permit application.
Not true . Depend on which states you are in !Originally posted by Meia Gisborn:Non-resident aliens, such as foreign nationals temporarily in the US on work or study visas, are not allowed to purchase firearms.

Gawd damn...
If that really did happen, and you were visiting on a tourist visa, then that salesperson was obviously ignorant of the regulations pertaining to the sale of firearms to non-immigrant aliens. This wouldn't surprise me, as I've encountered a number of these sales drones who aren't up to date on firearms regulations. But that's really a non-issue as the sale would be flagged at the time it's called in for the NICS background check.Originally posted by storywolf:Not true . Depend on which states you are in !
I was there to visit my colleagues ... they bring me to large outdoor shops with guns sections.... the rules explain by the salesman is that if you been in the US for more then 3 days .. with no criminal record ... yep you can buy a gun !!!! Yep that is freedom .... free to buy and shoot people.
Yep that is freedom .... free to buy and shoot people. That's a pretty ignorant statement.
Here's the deal. When you walk up to the counter and ask for a firearm to rent and to use their range, they will ask for an ID. If you show anything other than a valid US drivers license, it is up to the the guy manning the counter to make a decision. Is it illegal to rent and shoot at a range? Nope, it happens all the time. Our local range here in DC Metro gets the occasional bus load of Japanese tourist.Originally posted by SpecOps87:Curious bout this Dave...say if i pop by Texas one day...and decide to go pop some rounds, is there a place for tourists to do so? Or must you be a US citizen and own your own firearms etc?

I've had several Singaporeans here in the past taking a full 3-day to a week long course of firearms training and tactics, and none have had any trouble, at times shooting alongside local LE.
why don't u just fly up to thailand? cheaper and u can fire too. only bad thing is there probably are only a limited number of arms to choose fromOriginally posted by wonderamazement:Wait till i've got the money i'll fly over and pop some rounds

If I'm held hostage at gunpoint, it may not be entirely a good thing if concerned citizens came in with guns blazing.Originally posted by i-SHOT:So, what kind of shooting do we do during a weekend? Here's a vid from yesterday:

Yes, it is. It is quite a hoot but the situations given is defensive NOT offensive. We'd leave it up to the ninjas from the SWAT and HRT team to rescue youOriginally posted by moca:Does look like a lot of fun though!!!
