Actually all you had to do was to click "edit" on idwar's post and you can see the picture url. But the picture from at the url was removed, so you can't see it now.

defeintly a DSA built FAL! DSA make their own receiver which is to the specification of the Austrian Steyr STG58! they bought up bunch of STG58 parts less receiver and built them here in the US.. Great prooduct!
For you guys! DSA did was that it uses the BRen L4 magazine which is what U see is the 30 rd mags and convert it to use on the Metric guns! ...... As you see on my photo I have the L1a1 with a British L4 Bren magazine.... the british design the L4 to fit the L1A1 so the SAW they had could use the same mags as the L1A1 ....during that time..
I am a little weary about that short barrel on a 7.62x51 rifle ! I have handle a 16" barrled STG58 and it flash and kick quite a bit ! would rather stay with at least a 18" barrel for the 7.62 NATO caliber!
Great design for the FAL! but I take my L1A1 anyday since it is more reliable becasue of the sand cut on the bolt carrier and the handling like the selector switch, magazine design and mag release is better design on the INch pattern! Inch rifle will take both Metric and Inch magazine ! Metric rifle will only take metric... do have a STG58! but did not use it as much as my Inch guns!

Singapore Police Force used the NATO FN model till 1979(?)
I think they called it the SLR
(Self Loading Rifle)
Army also used it until replaced by AR-15.
Any old timers remember the SLR? -
YEah! I remeber when I was in BMT in Tekong CAmp 1 and they still have a couple of those SLR in the armskote!
SLR= self loading rifle called by the British which is the INch pattern L1A1.
Alot of those SLR we have are actually Australian! infact I have one Aussie L1A1 parts kit that after going thru the serial number was actually issued in Singapore ! most of the Ex SIngaporean L1a1 has wooden handguard and buttstock!
All of them are Inch Pattern!

wah feel like a dinosaur... SLR was used for IFC 3, to introduce BMT trainees to sounds of different types of weapons, day and night, small calibre (5.56) and large calibre (7.62), though both weapons are using blank attachments which may vary the sound a bit vs live rounds.
Believe such lessons was long ago (1986) phased out/modified.
