Phalcon no doubt is a generation ahead of E-2C’s radar because it’s phase arrayed. However because it’s a in long wavelength band like any other AEWs, so it’s good at “search” but not enough to “guide missile”, the Phalcon can guide fighters to the position, but eventually it still depends on the fighters’ own short wavelength Fire control radar to do the tracking of the enemy jets and finishing the killing.
I think 150nm datalink range is good enough for the phalcon plane to hide safely behind its escorting fighter jets from being hit by enemy long range AAM
