Iranian forces have captured and are holding 15 British Navy personel after the Royal Navy carried out a routine boarding and search procedure on a ship in the Arabian Gulkf suspected of smuggling cars.

Given the track record of Marines experience in coordinating air support in 2003, we'd have a few damaged Iranian boats and 15 Marines killed by friendly fire from the "Warning shots." -

Ha, I figured it most would understand the implicit reason behind marine casualties after 2003.
They were really short of quality combat air controllers back then. -

Wars have started over seemingly small issues, and this incident, if handled like a cowboy early on, could have ignited a war.
Right now, the British have the upper hand, so to speak. Iran claims the sailors have confessed, Britain has been restrained, the ball is in Iran's court right now. Whatever she chooses to do, will be seen by the world. -
BUt i wonder, what is the SOP for boarding a ship?
Within how much distance must the "mother ship" be?
How far was the british ship away from teh inflatable?
If they were just next to it.. it may not have happened?
