Irregardless, there has not been any notable military deals or perhaps any with the west with regards to using commodities like palm oil, chickens, etc. In fact, they scoff at them. That just goes to show the premium placed on such commodites on the part of Western companies. The Russians would have avoided that too if given a chance. Buying on the cheap is only an option for the Russians it would seem. So the products and procurement packages are sub-par.
The value of such commodities can go up and down. Another simple reason. A disease can wipe out the entire industry and value in days. Only that bolehlan has no choice but to negotiate with sellers who really need to sell.
Not to surprisingly, the world has not turn to palm oil as `the' alternative. There are in fact numerous viable alternatives. That has been the case for years. And the talk has just been about the potential of `palm oil'. Problem is... the western world and companies want the `alternative' to come from them so that they continue to dominate the markets. And not tropical countries like silly Malaysia. -
irreguardless wat is their mode of payment. they havent sign anything. malaysia is famous for sending false signals of purchase to entice foreign firms to participate in their annual defence exhibition... which currently has more satay stall then defence exhibitors.
Come on...A new LPd/LST is more probable for thie navy. Not an LHD. Too expensive and the RMN has not got enough escorts to keep safe that thing. Let alone the new helicopters, hovercrafts, etc for a ship that size.

ROKS Dokdo is both larger (length and beam) as well as bigger (total displacement) than the Spanish Navy's current aircraft carrier SPS PrÃncipe de Asturias. The ship is designed so that it can operate VSTOL aircraft with minimal modification.
If it was equipped with a ski jump board module, 15-17 meters in length, VSTOL aircraft such as the Harrier or F-35B can be launched from the deck. Its flight deck is coated with special urethane material to resist heat generated from aircraft engines.[1]
However, the South Korean government denies that the ship will be used as an aircraft carrier; the ROK Navy classifies the ship as LPH (Landing Transport Helicopter).[2]Specifications

i wont put it pass them to buy the dork LPX, just like they build their petronas tower.. doesnt matter if it dont ring in the cash.. it put them on the world map.
maybe they will do the same for their navy.
it would be good for us if they do... sure will tie down their resources and the limited funds even more...
