The Black Panther....apparently can go into water for a depth of up to 4.1m, and can fire its main 120mm gun downhill...
The design is kinda...weird?
'Cos it has a sloped chassis and the main gun definitely has to be remaining at a certain angle to shoot straight. I wonder how they do it.

Main gun elevation abilities are usualy up to -8 degrees or so. What this tank can do is probably lower it's front suspension and fire to an angle more than -15 degrees i think.
Hence what it says by kneeling. -
You will quickly understand why this kneeling function so important when u visit Korea. That place is full of hills and mountains.
During the Korean war in the 1950s, many North Korean tanks were destroyed because they could not depress their guns low enough while in hull down position against advancing US tanks.
Almost any land battle in Korea will involve a fight in the hills. More keen to know what their 'active' and 'passive' protection systems are... they have a APS installed? If so, I am very impressed! The israelis dont even have Trophy or Iron Fist installed in their combat formations yet. -

Because of that downhill view, It protects the tank even more, I operated different types on tanks on Red Orchestra and I can tell you, Angle is very crucial to a tank's survival, I ever had my shell bounced off the enemy's tank OR shot to close and it bounced off and landed on my ammo compartment

Out of curiousity,whats the rational behind carrying two different calibres of machine guns?

12.7mm AA role. Big enough to punch holes in lowflying aircraft/helis. Also use for soft skin vehicles.
7.62mm AP role. High ROF. Use to spray and cover an area to delete infantry. -
Looks nicer than their last tank. Their last tank look like some hunched version of the M1 Abrams.
The tank's suspension is by and large quite state of the art. We ought to look at it as some of our neighbours' terrain is of this variety. -

Looking at all its specifications. It looks to be a very formidable tank, something every tank builder has been trying to achieve!
1) Auto-feeder (cut crew down to 3. still very complex to engineer a auto-feeder that's as good as a human loader)
2) Tremendous elevation and depression for the main gun, further aided by the Hydropneumatic Suspension Unit, which can adjust the height of the chassis.
3) Good swimming ability with zero preparation
4) Ability to fire top-attack missiles from the gun barrel- a breakthrough for the Koreans
5) Active self-protection along the lines of Israeli Trophy system
6) Inter-Vehicular Information System which is likely to be similar to our BMS mounted in our armoured vehicles.
I'd say the Koreans are very technologically advanced! This is clearly a technological breakthrough for the Korean arms industry. -
Nah, I think this is pretty much expected for a "next gen" tank launched in 2007... they were standing on the shoulders of many previous tank designs. While an impressive tank (at least so far)... it is more evolutionary then revolutionary.

Firing missiles, even top-attack ones, is nothing new. The Russians have been doing that since the T-64. The Russians have been equipping their tanks with active self-protection systems since the T-80UM.
