Take it with a pinch of salt. It is a paper comparison afterall. Somehow I get the feeling that the details of this paper is somewhat exaggerated to provoke some form of procurement response from the Australian DoD.

Once I saw his laughable tricks to compare deployed AIM-120C to future Russian R-77 designs I know what we can expect from this zealot. If he wants apple to apple, at least he should mention AIM-120D, a more realistic missile than any those future R-77 in design.
Yes, Yanks command half of world arm budges, what else suspense could you expect except those zealots make for you?

The Flanker is a formidable aircraft. In terms of aerodynamic capabilities, it is a truly outstanding airplane & is superior to the F15. In the area of avionics ,it is definitely behind the most modern Western aircraft.
But of course it is not a simple one to one comparison. The Western netcentric airwarfare doctrine is key to defeating an opposition's airforce & this is where the key advantage lies. This has not been matched by the Russians. -
I thought they have Flanker with Israeli radar what the indian have... with the advance aerodynamics matches with advance Isralic avonics is the SU 30 the per fect aircraft ... compare to F15 dollar to dollar .. probably 1 F15 easily cost 2 Su 30 ... if you can also solve the SU 30 logistic and supply chain problem

Must remember the Yanks are not selling any more designs to their allies that can best the Su30, being more then confident that the F-22 will pwn just about anything that comes up in the near future. Hence we are stuck with designs that were made about half a generation before the Su30.
However, as many have said... it's more of what you do with your tools then simply having them. It's no point having a nice knife if your kung fu is weak and SA junk... your opponent can still beat you up with a lead pipe. -
Why are there people who only look to the US for solutions. Can't you get a European Typhoon instead ? -

Guess the Typhoon presented too many variables that were deemed a risky investment by the RSAF... it is a great design but other factors outside of it simply made it less-then suitable for us.

On paper and theory yes - give Flankers with Western avonics - it would be a good aircraft but in real , how successful the intergrated and how things really work together matters . No, you will need F-14s to turn into VF-1s... they have the switchblade wings.

Su-27 is a good match to US 4th gen plane.
but i think if the MIg 1.44 become a reality, then it is a different playing field liao.
