Tribute to the Centurion

Now that we will soon have Leopards in service, what will become of the Centurions?
Would SAF keep them as MBT, or convert them to something else?
Or junk them?
Will SAF eventually acknowledge or deny officially the existence of the Centurion/Tempest before they head for the scrap heap? Would one be placed at some museum for us to gawk at?

Here are some alternatives to scrapping the Centurions, some IDF heavy armour APC/IFV... mainly for urban "low-intensity combat". Suppose to replace M113 cos they have better protection against RPGs.

The Jordanian version - Al Temsah - is ingenious in that they reversed the chassis so that the engine is in front and the rear can install a exit ramp which the IDF version cannot.

I think they should be converted to bridge layers or engineer vehicles with mine rollers or flails. Since our MBT force is slowly growing, we will need more of these for urban ops.
Another suggestion is to raise a opforce coy out of the centurions. Since our neighbours are slowly building up armoured capabilities, it will be better for us to test out our armoured doctrines to a next level in a more realistic red vs blue kind of exercise. -

How much space is reauired to store one MBT? Multiply that by 100 and how much space is that? -

Most MBTs do not measure more than 10m x 4m. Storing a hundred Centurions whould translate to an area around half a football field. Is Singapore so small that it cannot even spare that land? Which may not matter at all if all these tanks are stored underground in carverns, which is the most likely course of action.Originally posted by easy06:well, it poses a space problem to keep all these tanks. -

what so secret about that? SAF already bought the Leo. leo is even poerfull than the tempest. Whats the point of hiding it?

There's a new army musuem coming up right? Maybe one of them might be placed there... Few others donated to educational institutions? The fate of the rest might be in the hands of Natsteel?

I'm sure there have been many crew and technicians who have operated and worked on the Centurion all these years. Were all of them swore to secrecy not to talk about it and every single one actually did kept to the silence?
