  He's correct, SBO is just a habit of calling it... but it's really called the webbing.
  
  Now our SBO is the LBV, weapon, PASGT helmet and what have you not in your role.

  The only gd thing about the LBV is ... no need to black tape here there everywhere ... n the water pouch leaks easily ... n no one fills that water pouch to 3litres. Can u imagine the weight u are carrying??

  Wait till you go topo in Australia or Thailand... 5 liters also not enough. It was usually 6 if we could! 2 canteens and 2X 1.5 liter plus one more emergency 1 or 500ml bottle. I never regretted carrying the extra water, for some other details who decided to chiong with 3 found themselves foraging the villages in thailand for water in 43 degree heat. If it wasn't for the ninja vans and topo routes that ran through some village kopitiams they would be finished.
  
  But the water pouch needs to be improved... this current production run is seriously defective... even the old bags worked better!

  Loads are getting heavier. It is important to keep the soldiers hydrated.
  
  Use of bullet proof vest is not too common yet but from developments from the US experience in Iraq, it may very well become more common in the next 2-5 year period.
  
  That vest will be heavy (5-8kg) and hot (material will not be breathable). Water will become a big necessity for missions.

  it seems like the more high tech our wars become, the more load our soldiers have to bring into battle.

  No avoiding that, modern war is such as this. Do you see how much junk the yanks go into battle with? I am quite amazed they can run and fight with all the stuff they carry, but they still pull it off somehow.
  
  The MOLLE style of donning things is a good idea, no doubt about that.

  From wad I heard and seen, the water bag that SAF gave out is quite lousy. You guys can try to order Camelbak through your company.
