I just got my own set recently, to replace my SBO for ICT.
Cool piece of it, can put a lot more stuff on it then you can with the SBO, and also can customize for your various roles... SAW gunner can carry more mags and so on and so forth...
Only thing it is obviously heavier, but not by much as the weight is properly spread out... it is also hotter, obviously, but it's no oven. -

Nah, no place to insert ballistic plates... I think it's just part of the entire setup that will eventually by SOP for our troops. And yeah, it can hold almost anything you could need in the field, as long as you equip it with the right pouches. And it dosen't jangle like your SBO when you run. -

load bearing vest, also known as LBV.
consist of 3x magazine pouch, 1x grenade pouch, 1x comms pouch.
the back view of my LBV.
consist of a waterbag, bino pouch and a gortez jacket pouch.
left: spare bino pouch for the LBV.
centre: gas mask pouch.
right: document bag.

The LBV has two zippers up front which can be used to insert kevlar plates.

Are the new LBV using velcro ? Makes lot of noise when opening - not good when you want to remain silent and want to remove something frn the LBV.

It's webbing, or Load Bearing Equipment, not SBO. SBO consists of webbing, number 4, weapon and helmet. -
