hahaha, very very funny and interesting...Originally posted by Diesel_Dimension:based on what WII atrocities the japs done is still clearly remembered by the chinese today... taiwan announce it's independence, china will take military action on taiwan,US will then defend taiwan,n being an ally of US japan had to aid US and china would use attacking US forces stationed in japan as an excuse to invade japan.. then imagine wad would happen then.. this war break out japan will hate china, china will hate japan they'be arch rival for the next few centuries.. But I do think you are one complete nutjob, with all due respects.
You've got nearly ALL your facts wrong... I mean Bush a Democrat?
And Qing dynasty dude? We'd all be smoking opium and kissing foreigner a.ss. The Qing Manchus are foreigners, too, incase you don't know. Phew!
And US most likely WILL intervene if China invades. If not by committing troops, then by sending naval task force. Or at least a generous supply of arms previously denied. It is in US interests to see China weakened by war.
And China has no choice but to invade Taiwan if she declares independence. Otherwise other parts of China will follow suit and call for independence. China will break into chaos.
Therefore, Taiwan - or specifically the village idiot Chen Sui Bian - by declaring independence, is THE danger to world peace. Somebody should shoot him before he does that.
It is true that war is no longer an option... Nobody wants a war. China is perfectly happy to maintain the status quo with Taiwan, but if that lousy excuse of the Taiwanese president declares Independence, China will have no choice to to attack.Originally posted by LazerLordz:And if she goes to war and screws up the economy of Asia in the process, you can be sure the rest of the other Asian nations will not tolerate this rude disruption. Which is why if China attacks Taiwan, you can be sure that it won't go unchallenged.
All of us other nations have too much at stake for any PRC government to play patriot in the 21st century. War is not an option anymore.
Hmm ..Originally posted by sgdiehard:China territory was at its peak in around 1864 under emperor kangxi. But when it became weak towards the end of the 18th century, outer mongolia seperated from China in 1911 at the influence of the Russian, Macao, Hong Kong, Taiwan were taken by the Portugese, the Brits, and the Japs even earlier when China were invaded by the invading forces of the 8 nations.
How about Japanese?Originally posted by pinkish purple papayas:If we are talking about strong china, it doesnt matter which is the ruling family right? be it manchus, hans or mongols family..
Yes, I'm not as certain about the figures, but this I'm sure: If the US doesn't intervene in favour of Taiwan as they PROMISED they would, the damage done to their prestige will be priceless.
Why will USA intervene? USA may have billions linked with Taiwan...but her interest with Mainland gets to trillions..
Of course USA would voice out against China if China hits Taiwan, but would she to the extreme of spending billions and risking trillions to help Taiwan?
Actually Ming and Qing dynesties were consider the "dark ages of China" even tho there was indeed a short period of time when China was powerful. Unfortunately, it was due to horrid policies that was implemented during these eras + corruption in titianic proportion which eventually led to the most humiliating historical period of ChinaOriginally posted by pinkish purple papayas:Huzzzah for a strong China! Revive the Ming/Qing era, where neighbouring countries of her paid tributaries and protection. It is when China weaken, that foreign angmos begin colonizing and taking advantage of lands like Singapore, Vietnam, Malaya and S.E.A...
No. Japanese was never part of Chinese. Although Japan had given China centuries of kowtowing and tributaries, and even the king of Japan would sign off as "Humble subject of China Emperor", the mainland never had any interest in sinicizing the Japs.Originally posted by moca:How about Japanese?
Think on USA's position, they fought 3 asian wars in the past 50 years, namely korean war, vietnam war, and more recently iraq war.Originally posted by moca:Yes, I'm not as certain about the figures, but this I'm sure: If the US doesn't intervene in favour of Taiwan as they PROMISED they would, the damage done to their prestige will be priceless.
In fact, both S Korea and Japan would strongly demand for US intervention should Taiwan be attacked. This is because the 3 countries feel the same red menace from China AND N Korea.
S Korea would fear that if US doesn't show a strong will to fight China, N Korea might be encouraged to attack the South. In fact, N Korea might take the opportunity to attack S Korea during a PRC invasion of ROC as US would be too busy to fight on 2 fronts. It's the once in a lifetime opportunity for Korean War 2.
And if the US don't intervene on Taiwan behalf, both Japan and S Korea might both think twice about relying on US for military support. Which in the end means less $$$ for USA. And Japan and S Korea are their last power bases in Asia. If they get kicked out, they will have absolutely no military influence in Asia left.
Yes..indeed the most humiliating historical period for China. In fact even people in these era are also shunning away from their chinese culture and ancestry.Originally posted by Mid9Sun:Actually Ming and Qing dynesties were consider the "dark ages of China" even tho there was indeed a short period of time when China was powerful. Anyway it was during the West Han and Early Tang time, when China was indeed the most power. Hence, the chinese are called "han" people ...and remember Han Yu Ping Ying, chinese language is called "Han Yu"
you are right, thanks for the correction.Originally posted by Icemoon:Hmm ..
In 1864, Kangxi has been buried for 1 1/2 centuries.
I'm not sure whether China territory peaked during Kangxi. In terms of land space, the Yuan Dynasty might have it bigger.
Also, the peak might be during Qianlong's reign. The Golden Age was definitely during Qianlong.
what talking you?Originally posted by audiovideo:Those who talk about china Qing dynasty history should go read up more...preferably in depth...else don't write about it... so ma-loo
Those who still have impression that China is weak /poor or backward or don't think China "has arrived" should at least watch TV that documentary about Chang Zhiang. You have no idea how much $$$ the chinese is moving.
While China has a trillion $ in foreign reserves, US has as much if not more in debts! China won't catch up with US just yet but it won't take too long if the chinese don't fight among themselves.
China sending man to space waste of money? If Singapore can do it by simply paying $$$, I believe our govt will consider seriously. Do you know what it meant by having the capability to send a man to space?? The technology behind it? And what this technology will translate to for a nation? Is sad to read some very naive comments here
China need not to send a single soldier to Taiwan. She just need to keep status quo and drag on.... soon Taiwan will beg to be recognised as part of China for survival reason. Now Taiwan is international laughing stock..
can agree.Originally posted by audiovideo:While China has a trillion $ in foreign reserves, US has as much if not more in debts! China won't catch up with US just yet but it won't take too long if the chinese don't fight among themselves.
