It is now winter in the northern hemisphere.
Here in Shanghai my fridge at 4 degrees C is warmer than my apartment.
My coldest ever combat training was in ROC, where I had only my SAF-issued "sandpaper" texture sweater. As I remember, i couldn't sleep most nights cos the wind was howling and it was quite cold. My teeth actually chattered.
Other "cold weather" training I had were in Singapore after being soaked through with rain. But still bearable if under shade as your uniform eventually warms up with your body heat.
In Korea the cold took almost as many casualties as bullets.
Has any of you who've trained in cold weather care to share your experiences?
Did SAF issue any special warm clothing?
