Pardon?Originally posted by ozzy_gurl:Im not saying it's completely at fault by the SAF,it quite obviously wasn't noticed by contracting staff either.
So one of the troops was too lazy to send it to the ammo dump? Where's your finger pointing?Originally posted by ozzy_gurl:But as far as we can tell,it seems to be the initial mistake of one of the troops, who has been too lazy to send it to ammo dump, but instead has disposed of it in a rubbish bin,
I'll agree with the rest of what you're saying
Don't get me wrong,I'd love for it all to be found to be a huge mistake, where no-one is entirely blamed, certainly not the SAF.At first I didn't even believe it could of been SAF issue,it doesn't seem right for it to of happened. But it has happened, and now I'm sure it will never happen again. No matter who was at fault, there are always mistakes made, but once they are made, people learn from them.Don't worry,it doesn't matter who's fault it ends up being, the media will cover it int he same way, whether SAF's fault or PIQ's.There will be no favouring anyone.
i meant exactly as i said....i think it was a troops fault initially,....but the fact that it ended up at a recycling depot means it was also rubbish mans fault.i dont say things unless i mean them.somebody made a huge mistake.Originally posted by kotay:I'll agree with the rest of what you're saying
Hi there,Originally posted by ozzy_gurl:for one.....thast article is stupid......he didn't even get the company's name right.
Toy/Replica guns fall into the same category of "as dangerous as a paperweight until you decide to clock somebody on the head with it."Originally posted by SingaporeTyrannosaur:I don't understand what the big ho ha is about this anyway... I mean it's not as if there is anything top secret with the Matador (mostly off the shelf), the most important part is not there (warhead), and it's mostly unlikely that it ever could be used again (a spud cannon would be more dangerous). It's about as dangerous as a paperweight until you decide to clock somebody on the head with it.
And military surplus? Go sniffing around Singapore and you can pick up quite a bit of it without any issues and for a real cheap price as well! Too bad that git didn't keep his Matador find under wraps until it was a better time to wave it around in a bar.But military surplus you can pick up in Singapore does not include weapons or munitions or even parts thereof ... ?
The real issue isn't the Matador getting found I suppose, it's about if other potentially sensitive pieces of equipment ending up in the wrong hands through the same channels. And I think heads on the Singapore side are going to roll if any bit of a fault is found, given the way the SAF treats these kinds of things.Agree, the real issue isn't the Matador being found, whichever of the 2 possibilities you look at ...
But this is a rather moot point given Matador or not there are plenty of other ways to use fake weapons to rob banks. Having used Matadors around would not contribute to the crime rate... and I seriously doubt they would be useful in a robbery given their size and weight and how much they slow down the user and leave him vulnerable to REAL small arms. The suspicious black bag that contains a "bomb" would work a lot better.

Yet, most nations incl. Australia has legislation that equates robbery with a replica as being equivalent to robbery with an actual weapon.
Not too hard to imagine this being used for a robbery attemp on a bank or armoured car.
I won't say much about this, but just go sniffing around and you will be very surprised by what you can find and what some people sell at the flea markets.

Anyway, the git should have applied for his license pronto as IINM he wanted it for his theatre group?
"Only armourers, theatre groups and other legitimate persons who applied for a replica permit were permitted to hold the weapons."
he Australian Federal Police says a rocket launcher seized as part of an investigation into a Sydney man with alleged links to a terrorist cell was "active" and could have been fired...
Police, the defence department and ASIO are continuing to hunt for another six of the weapons still not accounted for...
Need to fit in new mechanisms i think... And the barrel too...Originally posted by Shotgun:Actually, a friend of mine told me the matador CAN actually be re-armed. Just that it would be a workshop task... not like the RPG.
