What do you do if your enemy does not follow the Geneva Convention on the proper treatment of Prisoners-of -war?
Legally, can you execute insurgents who does not follow the rules of war?
I believe Communist insurgents who are caught with weapons during the Malayan Emergency are executed by the British and Malayan govt after a Court Trial. Isn't this a legal way of killing prisoners of war?
And what if you are captured yourself. and face the prospect of execution?
What would you do?

You can only excute Soilders Not in Military uniform...But still on Combat duty

well u try ur best to get out. i would, cause staying would be bad for me anyways

in a war, anything goes. You apply the Geneva convention but that does not neccessarily mean your enemy will do that to you. If everybody practices Geneva convention, there won't be rapes, genoicide already.
In a war, every thing is done and the victor dictates the law whilst the loser bears the brunt and gets tried under so call War Crimes. Do you believe Stalin didn't commit war crimes? Truman in ordering the atomic bomb to be dropped is not considered committing genocide? Everyone shouted that Saddam Huessein is guilty of war crimes, what about the Iraqis killed by American soldiers or assinated by the various intelligence units of Israel?
At end of day, if I am captured by enemy in war & if I am a soldier, I won't harbour hopes of being treated fairly. And if i capture an enemy soldier, I will hand over to my superior or Provost, its out my hands. -
Forget it man, I'll just take my rifle and shoot myself. I rather die a quick one than let them torture me to death. I'm more afraid of torture than death.

Hell I'd say don't even bother to fight the enemy....reality is many of us will just prepare to leave months ahead when the winds of war are blowing.....
Its a free world and we won't stop you fighting with your comrades...If you get caught...well....I'll let you figure out what you will do cause you wanted to fight in the first place -

Well...if you ask me I will only observe the Geneva conventions if I'm fighting the Swiss. Other then that...theres this saying which I find most true: "In war, it is not about who is Right, but who is Left."
If not mistaken, it is also a chargeable offense even if forced by the circumstances to do the following:
Assisting enemy
12. Every person subject to military law who, knowingly and without lawful excuse —
(1)having been captured by the enemy, serves with or aids the enemy in the prosecution of hostilities or of measures calculated to influence morale, or in any other manner not authorised by international usage;
(2)surrenders himself to the enemy or leaves the battle;
shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction by a subordinate military court to suffer [/b]death or any less punishment authorised by this Act.
Offences in connection with captivity
14. Every person subject to military law who —
(a) is captured by the enemy through his negligence or disobedience; or
(b) being captured by the enemy, does not take any reasonable steps which are available to him to rejoin the Singapore Armed Forces or prevents or discourages any other person who has been captured from taking such steps,
shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction by a subordinate military court to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years or any less punishment authorised by this Act.
So even kena caught also will kena punish, I would rather escape man. -
I'd do anything to break free. You'd never know if your enemy is sane or un-Geneva in nature.

Anyway, been through RTI before, even though its the scaled down SMI version, but it still feels like shit... Great way to sabo your buddies though -
its time to put what you have learned in Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape (SERE) to good use

what a question...what CAN you do? you are captured...if you can eascape..you would already have..duh!
